I mainly collect toys, games, Duran Duran items, 80's memorabilia.  Thrifting is so much fun because you never know what you'll find and where you'll find it.

A few weeks ago I was coming back from Chicago and I stopped in Savers on Reynolds Road in Toledo, OH.  I was in the Jewelry section and I found a cute pink & green Sex Pistols button.  One of the associates was putting out more jewelry and we started talking.  I asked if she happened to have any more music related buttons and she said yes I have some Duran Duran ones.  I said "no way, please I need those" and she gave them to me.  I said you made my day!!!  They were only .49 each.  I had some growing up and I can't find them :-(

Cool:).

I collect records (best find was the day I found a bunch of Beatles records at a local thrift store) & cassettes.

I also collect some New Kids On The Block memorabilia (haha) & interesting books that deal with pop culture.

Whoa, you found Beatles LP's, that is awesome!  Did you add them to your collection or resell them?

I like NKOTB too :-)

At the food bank thrift today they had a bunch of late 80's teen magazines, several featured New Kids on the cover and one of the Coreys (cant' remember the last names) etc.  They were hilarious!

I kept them for my collection:).  Some of them are not in the best condition, but I was still excited that I had found a few Beatles records.

I also bought a record by CSNY and my mom noticed that it featured Joni Mitchell's signature.  It said Joni Mitchell 1974.  Not sure if someone just doodled her name on there or if she actually signed it?

One day I found this huge jigsaw poster puzzle featuring New Kids On The Block & I also found another one that featured Luke Perry & Jason Priestley.

Savers seems like a cool thrift store.

I found 2 Beatles records once. Paid a buck for each. I see them quite often lately & they are always in the auction section or are priced over $25 each.

NKOTB collector too.

Someone at my local thrift must have wised up.  The other day I was in and there were Beatles adn Monkees Lps behind the counter in the collectible section, marked $10 and up.  Usually LPs are $.25.  Someone must be looking on ebay.

Have you been finding anything recently?

I think it's pathetic how they overcharge on some of the lps.  I could understand if the record was very rare, but most records I would imagine were mass produced and come a dime a dozen.

I have a couple of Duran Duran 45s with pretty nice sleeves. I have The Reflex and The Wild Boys.

It's beyond pathetic.  Records are priced based on a grading system.  Records that are valuable are either sealed or have limited (and I mean less than 10) spins on the turntable.  You can tell by looking at them and seeing the cover.

I've seen stuff priced at $24.99 that wasn't worth the $.99 that they normally charge.  Really outrageous.

I HAVE (on the other hand) found a Meet The Beatles monaural LP at a Goodwill for 99 cents.  It was in great condition and I play it every now and then.

Which record is considered the rarest?

I have no idea, but I'd bet this guy does - Paul Mawhinney.  He has the largest collection of LPs and singles in the world.  Check out this video:

<a href="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1546186&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=01AAEA" target="_blank">http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1546186&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=01AAEA</a>

Joe Bussard may also be one to consult - he has the largest collection of rare Blues, Country, Bluegrass, and Jazz 78's, probably in the world.

My thought it the rarest record is the one you want but cannot find.
