Some of the most coolest interiors in any movie were in the French film, Diva.

Not only did they all seem to have killer high-end audio gear, but the interior murals and spaces were flippin' awesome.  Lofts in parking garages, railroad flats, lighthouses, warehouse lofts, harlot apartments with expensive lighting gizmos, the list is endless.

Diva was pretty amazing, wasn't it?  I think I held my breath through the entire movie.

I also drool over movies that are set in the 1700's or 1800's.  The Europeans really went over the top.  WOW!
A good way to find the best interiors in movies is to go to the oscar website and find all of the movies that won or were nominated for Best Art Direction.  I have a wonderful book that lists them.  Here are some examples....
Out of Africa 1985......also has my favorite sound-track of all time.    Dangerous Liaisons 1988    Moulin Rouge  2001
Chicago 2002   Sweeny Todd  2007   Camelot 1967  These were all winners.  That's just a small sampling.  The British Academy Awards have their own say-so too.  This is just a fun way to watch some great movies and watch specifically for fantastic sets.

I ADORE Dangerous Liaisons. I must have watched it a million times.  Camelot is breath-taking. Did "Lion in Winter" get nominated for anything in art, or "Farenheit 451"?

Another great movie pick, Seso.....Anything with either Hepburn gal is guaranteed to be terrific!
I am still endorsing "Mixed Nuts" for a wonderful Christmas experience.  It is very funny, very Christmasy and the character (GRACIE) that Juliette Lewis plays actually decorates throughout the movie.  Her tastes are perfect for anyone who loves the romantic, Victorian, glitzy, glittery, eclectic look.  She hangs small strings of lights from every available spot in her resale shop and in Steve Martin's home/office.  Other parts are played by Madeline Kahn, Rita Wilson, Robert Klein, Parker Posey, Adam Sandler (terrific!) and Liev Schreiber (hardly recognizable, but fantastic) and many other smaller parts.  The film was writer and directed by Nora Ephron who collarborated on some wonderful movies with Woody Allen (love him), wrote and directed Sleepless In Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail, Michael, Silkwood and many others.  That woman has talent!  Does anyone else have any suggestions for a good movie experience???   I have been known to watch 4 movies in one day, especially on days like today when we have a winter advisory and the roads are paved with glitter!  Shocked

Seso....The Lion In Winter was a really good movie, receiving accolades from many venues.   Peter O'Toole was nominated for best actor, Katherine Hepburn won best actress,  nominated for best costume design, nominated for best director (Anthony Harvey), nominated for best film (lost to Oliver) won best original score, won best adapted screenplay.

I adore Juliette Lewis. She is so quirky and greatly talented. I will keep my eye peeled for Mixed Nuts. (LOVE the title, too) And Madeline Kahn is one of the great underated comedic actresses of the baby boom generation.

My chick flick movies? Charade, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Desk Set, North by Northwest, Mr. Lucky (are you sensing a pattern here?), Vanity Fair (I adore Reese Witherspoon!), Bridget Jones's Diary and Edge of Reason, any of the Dangerous Liaisons (Glenn Close version, Annette Benning version, Catherine Deneuve version) I HEART Huckabee's (I LOVE that movie); the Northern Exposure TV series (I LOVE that so much, I bought all SIX seasons)  Ed Wood (in the autumn, and especially around Halloween) Chocolat' (so sexy!) I know there are more, but can't think of any more...if you or anyone does, post 'em...O, the BEST Scrooge (IMVHO) with Alaistar (sp?) Sims from the 50s. A Christmas Story, of course (I have a cat that sounds just like Randy, lol)

I was a big Woody Allen fan in the 70s. Annie Hall, of course. And Hannah and Her Sisters from '86.  I love that one around Thanksgiving/Christmas.  LOVE and DEATH...my husband got me Prokofviev's "For the Love of Three Oranges" for our first Christmas together in the 70s...the theme to LOVE AND DEATH is from that symphony.

Juliette Lewis was in a Woody Allen movie that was rather good. She played his very young love interest. She was also great in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (which is a fun watch) and she was superb in "Natural Born Killers" but as fantastically done as that movie is, I don't recommend viewing it more than once, because it is excessively, excessively violent.

It's funny.  I love old movies, too.  But sometimes I have to watch them twice because I am too busy looking at the set and how they have things done.   So I have to watch the film a second time to catch the plot.  Call me crazy  Grin

Mixed Nuts... I have been thinking about that movie. I totally forgot the name and got too lazy to IMDB it.  Sandler played a very goofy neigbor character.  It is a really funny holiday movie, makes my family feel very normal.

I also like Doc Brown's House in the 1955 scenes of the Back to the Future trilogy.  The woodwork is amazing.
