Well, I've decided to get the heck out of this cold weather and visit my family in Florida for a few days.  I'll be driving down on Friday, and probably driving back Tuesday night.   Don't know if I'll have any time to go shopping yet...

Come down south this summer and we'll make a thriftrip down to Palm Beach and beyond. You'll love it!

@ anastasia:  Sorry, no time to stop in NC.  I'm only going to be down there for 2 or 3 days anyway.

@ Good Buddy:  That's fine, I'll be down again.  (Hopefully soon)

Jay - If you come through Arizona on the way (hey, you never know) we're having a 50% off day at Goodwill on 1-17-09.

I wasn't planning on it, but if my GPS routes me there to avoid traffic I'll give you a call.

Jacksonville is an awesome thrift town, if you are going through here on I95 get off at the Beaches exit = the Thrift store is first on the right, Huge store, but for profit. No dressing rooms, but the prices are good especially on kids toys and clothes. Also housewears and linens. On Saturdays everything is half price except the items brought in that week.

Farther down on the right is a Angel Aid thrift store and then down about 3 miles on the left is a Hubbard house thrift store (that I really love!) and then down another mile on the right is a Humane Society thrift store.  Then if you want to keep going another 3 miles there is a Salvation Army, Hospice and Goodwill all clustered together. Wow never realized so many of them are on Beach Blvd! Finally if you go all the way to the Beach there is another Goodwill on the right, but I feel they are overpriced.

Have a good trip to Florida, hope it warms up for you, it's only in the 50's today, tomorrow and Saturday I think...

It looks like I will be rolling through JAX ~8:00 PM.  No shopping today.  Stores will be closed, and I'll be tired at that point, just want to get to Port Orange so I can go to sleep.

How does one even respond to that?

As I write this air temp is -12 with windchill of -45.
I am soooo jealous Jay, and of those of you who live there.

Oh you-all are so funny....being a former Conneticut girl and living down here in Florida for the past 24 yrs, 50 degrees is cold to me, I guess you get bombarded with the humity when you live down here so you walk around constantley hot...but tonight it is supposed to get down to 30 degrees and a frost warning is in force...this is our winter, but I will take it over what my brother Chris is facing up in Massachussets...15 degrees..yuck! I'll spare you the weather report from Phoenix.  It might make you cry then your tears could freeze while still in your eyes and you could go blind.  I'll just say this, I doubt I will be needing a jacket again before November 2009.

I'll be back in 6 months to cry on your shoulder about the heat.

Oceangurl is so right, I cant bear the cold anymore, probably because it's usually so hot and humid. My hubby always wants to go home to NC for Xmas and I just cant/ wont/don't want to do it. I say lets visit NC and Michigan (where I am from originally) in the summer time when it isnt blistering hot!

I won't spare them... ::: Evil laugh - wringing hands like Fu Manchu or Ming the Merciless :::

Today it should be in the mid to upper 70's and warm sunshine.  No humidity.  In Phoenix, we have about 8 months worth of what New Yorkers would consider "perfect" days.  I'll take the 3 months of triple digits for the 9 months of "chamber of commerce" weather ANY DAY.

We're off to Tucson today for Duke's (Father in Law) 84th birthday.  We'll stop in Casa Grande at the Sallie to see what they have.
