Guess this qualifies as a thrifting road trip.
Just saw in the paper that the World's Longest Yard Sale is scheduled Aug 7-10 this year.
For those of you who don't know it is a garage/yard/flea market/sale that stretches along 127 from Defiance Ohio on the Michigan border to Gladsen AL, over 600 miles.  Peple plan to spend thier whole week-end driving it and shopping.
I only tried it once, almost by accident.  I was on a trip with some family members when we stopped for gas along 127.  BIL saw a golf cart for sale and it nearly killed him when he realized there was no way to get it home.  Since he doesn't play golf I'm not really sure what he needed it for anyway, but he was heartbroken to have to leave it behind.
HGTV usually does a special about it and last year so did PBS.  I've also heard Rachael Ray did a show on it.
web site is www.127sale.com
So for all you die-hard yard salers, have fun.

Hubby and I are thinking about maybe heading down to the Defiance end (bout an hour or so away) just to say we did it. If we manage to go, I'll take some pictures. If someone else can get to the AL end we can all just dream about what's in the creamy middle. Wink

That's the one.  I know.  I live in KY:)  It used to in years pass start here in Northern KY  but other places along US 127 have gotten involved so now it starts in Ohio.

I did part of the 127 sale 2 years ago just the Jamestown TN area. In that area movst people set up on Monday and the locals shop Mon-Wed before the official start on Thurs Its great and less crowded shopping with the locals. The people are just as amazing as the stuff. People live in their trucks sleeping on pull out sofas with their pets using the power of a generator for refrigerators and lights.
