I'm the editor at the state geological survey, which is an institute of the state university. I've edited and produced publications in many different disciplines, always in a university environment.

As part of my job, I copyedit, manage the publication process, design and format publications, deal with printers and contractors, and do a lot of the PR for the organization.

I work in a thrift store that benefits our local battered women's shelter.  Love that job!

Um, no, not just the poor come into our store.  Case in point:  someone donated a brand new sectional from Norwalk, The Joe Reggiero Collection.  Brand new this large piece of furniture cost $4000.  We put $2175 on it.  And yes, people laughed at the price..in fact we were alittle skeptical ourselves.  But ya know what???  That thing sold this weekend, to a dentist, no less.  He was buying it for his son's first apartment.   And they were worried he might not like it.   Shocked  Um, this thing was gorgeous!  And very well made..quality.  Anyway, they said they would just donate it back if their son didn't like it.   Roll Eyes  Oh well..I wouldn't mind selling it again, I guess.   Grin

I can't believe I've commented on posts in this thread, but I've never actually said what I do.  Well anyway Mary, you know what I do, but I'll state it here so everyone knows.  I'm a drycleaner.  I own a large discount drycleaners with my brother-in-law.  I am a vintage collectables dealer, but only as a hobby.  I only do about 4 or 5 shows a year, and I make just enough to break even, with a little extra which is always spent on thrifting, so it helps fund my habit.  I'm addicted to 50's stuff.
