Hello everyone and welcome to our website. We're so glad you stopped by.  I'm Cookie, and this website is owned and operated by me and Michael, my hubby.  He is the administrator and webmaster for this site.  Needless to say, we love to thrift!!!

I'll be moderating all of the forums.  If you have any problems or questions, just shoot me an e-mail and I'll be there to help as soon as I can.  I'm also working on our monthly online magazine that will make its debut in June, so if you have any thrift-shopping-related writing you'd like to submit, please feel free to drop me a line at editor@thethriftshopper.com.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you a few things about me, and hopefully you'll do the same so we can all get to know each other.  So my request is this:  Please tell me five interesting or random things about you, but please keep it clean, folks.  Don't be shy!  I'll go first.

1.  I LOVE bellydancing.  It's a lot of fun, and I love the music and the costumes.  I've been doing it as a workout lately, too.  I'm going to try hula next.

2.  My new passion is cake decorating.  I've taken a couple of classes and I love to make practice cakes.  Hubby can't eat all of the cakes I make, so our neighbor and the local fire department end up with a lot of cake.

3.  I haven't decoupaged in a while, but that's another one of my hobbies.  I still love it, but each project is really time consuming.

4.  My other hobby is sewing, which I haven't done much of lately.  I did embroider hubby a handkerchief with his favorite fishing lures on it for our anniversary.  I'm on my last lure, so hopefully it will be done soon!

5.  Hubby and I bought surfboards as a wedding present to ourselves a few years back.  So far I've managed to sit on the board in the water.  From there, I try to look cool like I'm waiting for a wave or something.  That's about all I can do so far.  Hubby is way more advanced.  He's been surfing since he was 17.  He's going to have a heart attack unless I catch a wave soon.

Now it's your turn, fellow thrifters!  I know you all like to thrift, but tell me more!  Have you ever had a near-death experience or an inmate for a pen pal?  Will you only eat toast if it's been burned?  Go ahead and tell me any little thing.  I look forward to reading all about you!!

Hi, I'm Michael a.k.a. Good Buddy, Cookie's husband. It's nice to meet everyone.
I guess here's where I make this list, so here goes..

1. I'm a huge music fan. Lately I've been uploading thrift stores to the directory at night, for sometimes hours, and listening to much of the underground club alternative from the mid to late eighties. For some reason my tastes lean towards female vocalists, my favorites being PJ Harvey and Kate Bush. But my audio heart also belongs to The Jesus Lizard, Mudhoney and of course The Pixies.

2. Lately Misses Wife and I have been getting into the Warner Brothers superhero series, Batman (from the early 90's), Superman, and Batman Beyond. We got rid of cable TV siting it as a time eater and we really enjoy the epic themes that some of these shows have. These "cartoons" are very gritty and are also very well done.

3. Love animals, especially cats. We have 4, Gueseppe "Joey the Fish" Gatto, Salvatore "Needles" Felini, Peaches, and our two year old kitten "Hot Nuts Louie" DeSimone a.k.a. "Chuffy".

4. If I could surf good waves daily, I would never get bored.

5. I lived in Naples, Italy when i was a kid. I just went back for the first time in 27 years last October. My very very generous parents gave Cookie and I some of their billion frequent flyer miles so we could go there and get a bread recipe. I didn't get it. I look very forward to going back with Cookie and having alot of fun with our friends we have there.
My parents knew these folks who own a resort in Arco Felice, a suburb of Naples. The owners, the Damiani's, had two children we played with as kids. We stayed with Eduardo and his lovely wife Irene, it was amazing.
If anyone ever goes to Naples check out this resort to stay at.
