And a 3 1/2 foot turner wall accessory picture < its really like 3-D made out of stained /painted styrofoam> of Don Quixote..believe it or not I have a small abstract pic of him in my dining room..so this was peeerrrfect! the lady said give me 2.00 or he goes to the dump! So I rescued him..lol..SO glad my hubby is tolerant of my habits..I only left Don sitting on the front porch for 15 mins..had to rearrange and break it to hubby that I had brought another man home!!! He actually liked it...but wow...is our lil place getting crowded...:}

LOL! What an interesting menage a trois--you, hubby, and Don Quixotie. Those uppity city slickers ain't got a-nuthin on us folk down here on the Bayou. We be sexier than Paree, say what?

He can serve/hold the dip at your Halloween par-tays.

I'd love to see picks of this stuff someday. You sound like you had a ball this weekend. Happy Autumn Equinox Abundance, girl!!! xoxox

You and me both, Ms. Beaverhausen!  Thursday after work I went to Thrift Town with a friend/coworker.  I found a bag containing five boxes of commercial slides - souvenirs of Hong Kong from the '60s - for 99¢.

Saturday morning the same friend and I went to a church rummage sale.  I got four Science and Mechanics magazines from 1939-1949 for 25¢ each.  They have fantastic cover illustrations!  Very futuristic.  I also got a like-new chaise longue for $2.00.  I've been wanting one of those (and I had to google it to get the right spelling!) so I can read a book and take a snooze out in the backyard.

Then we went to a sale at an antique store, where I found a tiny brown glass bottle with a bent neck for $2.40.  I don't know if it was bent in a fire or if it was designed that way for some reason.  It looks like a beer bottle, only itty-bitty.  I also got a grab bag of 85 snapshots from the 1900s-1950s for $6.40.  I love old photos and there are lots of fun images in this bag!

Sunday I took light rail to the Sutter Street Antique Fair in the town of Folsom.  I bought an ENORMOUS bag of old buttons for $5.00, several antique photos, and some other odds 'n' ends.  Best of all, I found a dealer who was also a "digger."  He took his metal detector back east and returned to California with boxes of rusty metal things, plus broken ceramic things, old bottles, and other weird junk.  He was selling them for 25¢ a piece.  I picked out so many that he charged me a flat $10.00.  I got a small length of Civil War-era chain, ancient eyeglass lenses, a child's ring from the '50s, and even a broken segment of an old set of dentures.  All of this will end up in artwork someday!

It was a great couple of days!

Great finds you two.  It rained here...I did stop at two quick garage sales, but didn't find a thing.  On to Goodwill where I got 2 VHS tapes for $1 plus tax.  Those will go to my daughter's preschool as they were sing along tapes and great for the kids.

I haven't been to many yard sales in the last few weeks, this weekend was raining.  Last weekend I went out late, but got some nice freebies in the free boxes, a very pretty ball vase, vintage suitcase, cream enamelware bowl with green trim that is holding shampoo bottles in the bathroom now, vintage Halloween blowmold, etc.  Also I have lucked out with some Freecycle goodies such as a slipcover for my loveseat I picked up today, which matches perfectly with everything and tomorrow I am picking up a bistro table & chairs for the back porch.  Next weekend there is a town wide tag sale in the neighboring town of Deerfield, I will definitley be going to that one here is one ad I saw posted- I hope there are lots of good one like that!

Wow, Valley, be sure to let us know what you find at this sale.  "Big, Bigger, Biggest" is a great way to describe a yard sale - it better be good, huh?!

I know, what a build-up.  I'll be disappointed if everything is expensive, hope the town isn't swarming with dealers there are supposed to be dozens of sales.
