Someone once posted here about an online thrift store they were running I think she had a link to it too, you can search the forum for online thrift store and you will probably find it.  You could start an online thrift store for now and raise some revenue while you hammer out the details for a store front business.  I had a neighbor who opened an antique shop, it was alot of work & overhead.  Of course she had no real business plan so the shop closed after a year, but I myself would prefer to sell online.

Hi there! I'm a thrift store junkie like you as well. I've always wanted my own thrift store too. However I do know it would be a lot of work and have a feeling the fun I get out of thrifting may not be the same as actually running a thrift store but I still day dream about it sometimes.

What I do to fill the void is sell thrift store stuff online
. Mostly eBay of course. They have the traffic that you can't beat. You can open your own online store. There are lots of opportunities these days. With online the world is your audience and overhead is low. But good luck!

Grin Huh Thanks to all for giving me a warm welcome Hello! I thought about doing a online store. I have sold on Ebay and Craigslist and our local trader paper, I have made money doing all three things. I use to just have 2 Yard Sales a year and honestly I would make $2500 to $3500 at each yardsale and that was GREAT! Then I got sick and I kept on buying. In Oct 2009 I had to have a hip replacement. (Not Fun At All)!!!!!! So now I have 3 storage buildings full of really GREAT stuff! NO CLOTHES! I am not really much into clothes. I do buy some for my family but I don't buy them to sell. The only clothes I have are 90 Disney Tee shirts new with the tags. I really want to open the thrift store I have just got to find a bulding that is big enough and that the rent will not scare us to death!I am going to do the search for the online store you were talking about! Thanks, everyone for the ideas and advice !!! Please tell me more! I am going to print this all off and put in a brand new binder I  bought at the thrift store for 25 cents! lol cherryc

If I'm not mistaken I think a thrift store has to benefit a charity or  you can't call it a thrift store.  But you can of course call it whatever you want!
