Hello!

Just moved back to Richmond! I have been thrifting since I was ten. My first piece was a 1960's floral piece of luggage which I proudly used as a book bag for many years in school! With my recent return to Richmond I found myself with nothing more than a mattress and a well loved vintage Daystrom Chair! I am on a mission to completely furnish my apartment with my thrift store and yard sale finds! This weekend was amazing! I hit a huge Church yard sale just as it was ending and scored an amazing antique dresser a little worse for the wear for $10 with matching mirror included! I also found a bed side table for $2.00. Can't wait to talk with you all more!

That sounds like an exciting adventure!  Most everything I buy for my home is thrifted or from yard/church sales or even freecycle.  Post some pictures of your thirfty apt. when you get it all furnished!

Welcome! Don't you just love Church and rummage sales?? You get the best stuff. My hubby and I went to 2 this past Saturday and spent a total of $35.00 and Literally had the car packed full of stuff. A lot of clothes, but also Christmas decor, building materials, etc.

I didn't come home with much of anything this past weekend & one of the reasons was there were no local church sales!  Next weekend there are two, including one I get the best stuff at so I am looking forward to that.

Hi!  Your post reminds me of my SILs mother.  She was married to a career army man and they moved every couple of years.  Instead of moving all the furniture, she would have a yard sale and sell it all.  They would just move clothes and personal items and when they got to their new house she would hit all the local yard sales and buy new (to them) furniture.  Did that for nearly 20 years.  Even did it when husband retired and they moved back here.  You are in good company.

Hello!

Just moved back to Richmond!

Hey Jen, I lived in Richmond for many years. Dearly Departed (aka Charlie) was from there. I worked for Philip Morris. Richmond is a great city.
