Love this place!  My name is Kristin and I am an avid thrift store shopper plus I work at a wonderful little thrift shop.  My whole house has been decorated with thrift store finds.  I couldn't live without my favorite thrift shops.

I have to head out to work now but I am sooo looking forward to reading all the posts!  And did I mention that I love this place???  Grin

Welcome Kristen.  Looking forward to hearing all about the treasures you've found at thrift stores.  What thrift store do you work at?  What part of Iowa do you live in?

Hi Kristen! Welcome to a little piece of thrift heaven!

How neat to work in a thrift; would love to hear stories of your thrifty experiences. Also, would love to see pics of your home in your thrifted decorated style Smiley

I'll work on the pics of my house after Christmas.  Not to mention some of the great things that I have picked up here and there.

I work in a little store that is run by our local domestic abuse shelter.  We are in an old church located in NW Iowa.  We've only been open since Aug 06 and there are 2 employees, myself and another lady.  We don't take clothes or large appliances(too many steps-which is very hard on us ladies).  It has been the most fun I have ever had, working there.  My dh keeps telling people we only have a small 2 story house...meaning, if I continue to bring things home, we will be out of room! That's what I love about this place!  Not too many people here understand my need to thrift.  But all of you share my passion. WhooHoo!!!!

Jay! Now I know Iam in the right place, you took the words right out of my mouth: Obsession! and for me mixed with a little OCD and compulsiveness, and you have me, the thrifter....uugh I have gotton better over the years and now only visit my local Catholic Thrift once every 2-3 weeks, compared to twice a week, I simply have to buckle down and get my house in order before I can do anything else, so that is my goal for the new year of 2008! It's the hunter/gatherer mentality - couple that with OCD which (In my case) heavily favors gestalt and you have prime grounds for being a thrifter.

We keep going out, despite the sometimes lousy hunting because it's what we do - it's by design.  I'm glad I found this sight a while ago (actually, Good Buddy found me through MySpace) and it's more than just a what and where forum.  It is for me, a WHY place that helps me understand myself just a little better.

There are ideas to be gleaned, things to try, and new avenues to be explored (I sound like the opening to a show called THRIFT TREK) which can help us all.

I know it sounds like I'm labeling this as a condition, but I think in my case it might be.  I like thrifting, and even if I don't find anything, I MUST look in a new store when I find it.

See you next time
bye for now.
