Six or seven years ago, I dealer I knew was at this dumpy little flea market in NJ, where one of the vendor had about a hundred or so dead stock Pucci dresses from the 1960's he was selling for...

Do you know where Mayfair is? Or Lincoln High School? My mom grew up in Mayfair. My dad grew up all over the city..

Do I know Mayfair???  Heck, I grew up there and still sorta live there!  (Actually, I think it's Tacony, but purists say Tacony ends at Torresdale avenue, and Mayfair starts west of Torresdale.  I beg to differ).  After spending eleven years in Lawndale, I moved back to Mayfair/Tacony, and from my front porch, I can see the back of the house I grew up in - two blocks away.  I'm a Lincoln High School grad, and went to Disston for elementary school.

My mom's family lived on Chippendale Ave. about 4 blocks from Lincoln High. I used to go mess around on the bleachers by the football field.
There;s a bakery near there that has the BEST butter cake in the universe!
Ahhhh, Philly!

OMG!  I don't usually deal in clothing, but I certainly would have bought all of it if I thought it was genuine!

I know, I would have to try to hide my giddy excitement if I ran across a deal like that so the seller wouldn't realize what a huge mistake he was making!  Even six or seven years ago you could look just about anything up online & get an idea of the value, what was that guy thinking?

I guess he just didn't know.  A lot of guys in the biz are all about tools, sports stuff, military, etc.  Clothing -- even old designer stuff -- means nothing to them.

BTW, here's a cool thing I got yesterday at Quaker City Flea Market for $1.

What you see at the right is one of the front paws of Jersey Joe, who was trying to stop me from taking the picture, because he feared I might end up stealing the brooch's soul.

I've explained to him many times that inanimate objects don't have souls, but he's not buying it.

the second photo shows the rest of him.

What I wouldn't do for a haul like that Pucci haul!!  (I keep hoping)

Yesterday, I was visiting with a friend who does mainly liquidations --his storage space, has everything from junk lawn furniture to xray machines.  He gets antiques from time to time, but doesn't know a whole lot.  Anyway, yesterday he was showing me a lot of grade D merch, until he pulled out a group of utterly beautiful Victorian prints.  I'm not much for prints, but these were really stunning.  As soon as a find the time, I'll scan a few and post them here.

Is that WWII vintage?  It's a sweet little brooch.  (Jersey Joe's not so bad, either.  Wink )

Looking forward to seeing those.  Years ago my father found an old  large Currier & Ives print in the attic of the firehouse he worked in.  I think it was called The American Fireman or something like that.  Nobody at the fire station wanted it so he took it & had it framed.  The guy who framed it said it was worth about $1,500.

lookie what I found!

First time I've ever found one of these bowls in this size -- 8" high and 12" wide --  AND with no cracks or chips.

Salvation Army on Rising Sun Ave.

$16.00
