Welcome!  You'll probably find yourself getting addicted to this site as well.  Why squash a thrift store addiction?  Let it flourish!

Well, Uhm, I have this car, yes that is it, a car, that is possessed, and uhm every time I pass or try to go home without stopping at GOODWILL the car, yes the possessed car, makes me go there. :::::Bad bad car:::: and I would be wealthier if I did not allow the car to direct itself.  Funniest part of this is that I do not like, in the least shopping at "normal stores" including grocery stores. Huh

Welcome, Lisa - I must have a "possessed car" too, as it's raring to stop at Goodwill very soon. 'Course, I have the "excuse" that I have a boxful of things to donate, so there you go.

Enjoy the forum and let us know what you find!

My vehicles have the same affliction.  They will also violently change lanes for a yard or estate sale.  Although lately with the price of fuel they seem to do the same thing for cheap (relatively speaking of course) fuel stations as well.

Wow, so many "possessed" cars here! I think the correct term, rather than "possessed" is improved. Yes, car makers have made great strides in the past few years and I think this is just another improvement.

I know I am going to ask for this improvement at my next vehicle purchase!

And thrift store locations should be automatically programmed into all new GPS navigation systems.

My car is not possessed.  It is completely my addiction.  I own it.  I don't love it, but it's mine, and like all addictions, the impulses come in waves.

You're in good company.  I like thrifting because I have a hunter-killer mentality.  I never know what I'm going to find, ergo, I thrift.

See you next time
bye for now.

I think Michael Flanigan said it well in the Thrift-o-Teria interview:

"There’s a great thrill of the find when you go to a thrift shop. There’s no safety net. You’re supposed to be able to spot stuff. You’re working on your own. You can see what people don’t care about and somebody hasn’t picked up yet. I think part of what’s great about going to a thrift shop is people can create a trend. You’re going to discover it. Nobody else has figured it out yet. I still think as long as there’s thrift shops, they’re going to be a great place for the early, emerging trends."

Great interview, by the way, the best one out of all the Roadshow interviews.  Those appraisers had the best insight on thrift shops.  So glad to see a new mag too- fun to read!

When in an unfamiliar town or city I always search my GPS for shops containing the word "Thrift"
