What country girl didn't get her thriftiness from mom and grandma? I grew up in central IL, under these women who did not believe in wasting anything, including time indoors unless it had to do with sewing or it was rainy and cold out.
Seriously, I am still getting hand-me-down fabric from my wonderful grandma that she made baby clothes for my mom out of, as well as my mom's old t-shirts and skirts! She'll unload it all on me someday, and I won't mind a bit.
When I was younger, I remember loathing all the quirky characteristics of my mom and grandma. But oh how times change, I love them for eveything now and I really can't escape becoming exactly like them. I think that I thrift so much out of resourcefulness, but also out of love for all things old and sentimental and because, well I just can't escape it.
I thrift for vintage fabric, purses, homewares, skirts, dresses, shoes, and of course bargains! I live in the Denver area now and the shops here are great. CHeck out "Thrifting in Colorado" to hear what I have to say about it.
