Hello,
It's been a few months since I was active on the boards here, if you remember me as trasenstine. I changed my user name here as I have elsewhere, because it was a shortened form of my first and old last name, but as my divorce was final nearly two years ago, I decided I really needed to change to something more in keeping with my current life. Hence, kitschicat.
2007 has been an eventful year for me, I started dating someone I've been friends with for a couple of years and I am madly in love, and I am fortunate in that he shares my love for thrifting/junking and we spend quite a bit of time doing it together! But my schedule has also been affected due to the loss of my grandmother, she has been in declined health for many years, and has been living at my parent's home for 12 years. She came down with an infection in February that had her in and out of the hospital, a nursing care facility, back to the hospital, and finally home for hospice care. She passed peacefully on July 7th. Helping my mom through all of this and nursing my own feelings of loss have kept me busy enough offline that I was really only keeping up with my LiveJournal. But I am making a concerted effort to get back to participating on the boards that I enjoy so much and that of course includes this one!
I hope everyone here is well and I am going to be diving in over the next couple of weeks and trying to catch up with everyone's good stories since I've been gone. I really need to take photos of some of the fun things I've found at thrifts, estates, and church sales over the past few months, that will be my next project. ^_^
