Hello, hello!

It's a passion of mine to frequent the thrift stores and see all those wonderful items which need a home!  As a dishaholic, you can't guess how many sets of china I have!     But, I rationalize it by giving dinner parties and "needing" all the china and by telling myself that my three children are  going to need china some day!

I am a member of www.freecycle.com .  It's a completely free giving organization dedicated to people sharing or passing on perfectly good items to those who need it.  Take a look at the website.

It will be great fun to see this organization grow.  I'll be sure to pass the word.

BTW, are their any frapprs here?  It's a free online map where you can plug in the stores!

Would this be cool to see them on a map?

Happy thrifting!

Ava,

Thanks for your interest in TheThriftShopper.Com I hope you like what were trying to do. Yes I too think that an area map showing all the thrift stores near you would be a great idea! Cookie and I have often thought about trying to get that set up. It's a little more complicated than you might think though. The mapping software would have to "get" a result for each address one at a time, so if there are 50 thrift stores near you it might take a minute. That doesn't seem like a long time but with regards to DSL and cable modems, it's an eternity. I will look further into the matter and let you know what I find.
Thanks for the mapping site link, it's really cool.
As to contests, we have very also though of contests to have, "The World's Ugliest Couch", stuff like that.
You posted something in the "Most Wanted" section, is there any way you could find an image of the style artwork your looking for, or a few images and post them with your ad? I think the visuals would help people understand what you're looking for. (I set it up so you can load up to 3 images)
That's all for now, Happy Thrifing right back atcha!

Hi, Michael
Actually, the Frappr map is very easy to set up.  I did it for another forum where 100's of people have added locations.  It took me less than 10 minutes to set it up, and, the loading isn't an issue at it shows the first 50 and you add as you wish.  You can also designate areas which would eliminate some of the load time.

Do take a look at Frappr.  I know of lots of Universities that have maps there.

You're off to a great start.  Hope to see lots of members soon!
