hi everyone.i have been a lurker on this site for awhile-really enjoy seeing what everyone finds and finally decided to join in.i have been a thrifter since i was in my early teens.some of the fondest memories i have are big sis and i going thrift store shopping multiple times a week-oh how i loved the days she picked me up from school because i knew there was thirft store to be stopped at on the way home(even if we did go out of our way...lol) Grin.unfortunately the stores around here stink so i don't do it as much as i'd like to-even tho DH is happy because the junk...um i mean my treasures are kept to a minimum.so i will live vicariously thru all you guys who find all the neat stuff and deals......lol

Welcome and thanks for posting.
I too thrift vicariously through all these folks.
We don't thrift nearly as much as we'd like.

Hi from KY.  Except for one store, the ts around here are so-so.  Several people on this board are from Florida where the TS seem to be great.  But you can find great stuff everywhere.  The thrill of the find seems to be what drives all of us.

I live in the sticks, 60 miles from anywhere, way up north. There's only one ts in town, and even though by most standards it's not much, I have to stop there daily because.....you never know what you'll find next!!! Glad to see you out of lurkdom and posting!

woohoo a fellow tarheel! I know about the area your in, do you ever get to charlotte to thrift? Or even the Elkin/Yadkinville area? They have some pretty great stores in that area! I figured you might have some good yardsales in your area, I know there are some old homes in that area of NC. Glad you are here! AB

i grew up in tampa,fl and the thifting and yard sales were awesome!i lived in charlotte for about 2 years before moving here and i was not too impressed with the stores there but some were ok.some of the best stores i have found were when i lived in washington.hubby and i would get bored and make a day of hitting the stores because there was always something good for one of us.that is when i started my pyrex collection.i sure miss finding those .25-1.00 pyrex pieces Cry

Hi from Wisconsin. Since this is the "off season" for great finds I need to search the same 2 or 3 stores over and over. That is what great about thrift stores. It can all change over night.
And I still have some finds from summer sales tucked away to rediscover while I am snowed in...if I can be patient that long.
So I look forward to seeing what everyone else is discovering.

Hello from Chicago. I too started thrifting as a little girl. My mom would take me to St. Vincents for knick knacks. Back then I was so confused by the anti-theft warning in the dressing room that read: God is watching. Why would God want to watch the St. Vincents dressing rooms? Ha! Anyway, welcome and enjoy!
