Hi from Jacksonville, FL!

I don't even remember where I heard about this site, but when I did, I promptly reviewed my favorite thrift stores here in Jax. (And we have a lot of good ones!) Only later did I discover the forums, where I lurked a bit, and now I'm posting. Go me. 

I'm 25, and I've been shopping at thrift stores forever. Seriously - when I got my first paper route at, like, age 11, I started riding my bike to the nearest one and spending my hard-earned money on all sorts of things there. My big love as a teenager were purchasing used Baby-Sitters Club books and prettily-colored flannel shirts. LOL. Now I still pretty much get all my clothes from thrift stores, and most of my husband's, too. We bought all the furniture in our living room from Salvation Army and our dining table from a garage sale.

My best thrift store finds ever are a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans for $7, a pair of Joe's Jeans for $6, and a Maggy London dress for $9. Those all retail for upwards of $150. I also just recently found a great red leather Kenneth Cole purse for $4. And then there's the Goodwill where I often find new-without-tags Banana Republic stuff...

Why everyone doesn't shop at thrift stores is beyond me, but I don't mind because it means I get the good stuff!

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all, and hearing about your great finds, and if there are any other thrifters in Jax, I'd love ot meet you, and maybe even hit a few stores with you one day!

Hi, welcome, wow, you have made some seriously good scores. I can't imagine finding those kind of clothes here in Anchorage. Sounds like you have some really good stores there. You'll like this site, it's way cool.

Welcome!!!  I really enjoy the forums here - the people are really cool and there is usually always a great thread to jump in on!

You might want to visit some of your local thrifts and see if you can find some wading boots quick!!!        Fay is "supposed" to leave our area by Friday/Saturday and heading that way - these feeder bands are dropping rain like crazy!  Flooding and wind gusts...she just won't budge - but then again everyone loves to take long vacations in Florida 

Well...looks like there won't be any good yard sales out this weekend!

You have found some wonderful buys.I would love to find the nice jeans you did.And the bag...well,I collect handbags.Very nice.I love Goodwill.
I just don't see the reason either that folks don't do more thrift shopping,especially when the economy is bad.Oh well.Their loss is our gain... .

you sound like you've made great purchases. my daughter thrifts 95% of her clothes - and everyone says she wears the coolest clothes at her high school. thifting is without age barriers!

you are not the only one to wonder why people don't thrift: it is one of the mysteries of the universe

Welcome Kim you will love it here, and I too live in central Florida, Iam a good 45 minutes south of Ocala in Lady Lake or Leesburg, Florida! And yes Floridarec we have been getting nothing but rain here since wedns and winds. But we are more fortunate where Iam at then the coastal communities that are totally flooded and without power, we just like I said are getting the constant rain and winds...yuck!
