Hi Laura!

Glad you found the site and joined in!  I'm still a Newbie myself but I can tell you that you will enjoy this forum and everyone that participates!

Just an FYI (since I just recently found them myself)...click on the "magazine" link at the top of the page and when you have time go through the archives!  Cookie has done an amazing job!  There's a lot of great info and it's definitely worth the time to check them out!  I know I am enjoying it!

Hi and welcome to the board! BTW, my husband is from the south side of Chicago too - but the far southeast side, near the IN border. Are there many good thrift shops near you? My SIL, who still lives in their childhood home, says there aren't really any good ones by them.

I'm from the southeast side also. There are no good thrift stores here. There is a Goodwill in Indiana but I don't find much there.I usually go to one in Calumet City run by a church.Their stuff is nice.

Hi again - could you please tell me the address of that Cal City thrift store? I could tell my SIL about it or go there myself the next time we visit her.

You certainly do sound like you live in the general area where my husband grew up!

Thanks - I know the general area - probably not too far from River Oaks Mall, right? My late FIL bought his cars from that Ford dealership.
