Hello:

I'm new and wanted to say hello to everyone.  I started going to thrift stores in the last year.  Truthfully, I had three knee surgeries last year and have been on disability.  I wanted something to occupy my time, when I'm not at physical therapy.  And looking to find a few hidden treasures.

If anyone knows of any really good stores in Florida, please let me know.  Or my doctor is in Birmingham, Alabama and I am interested in going to stores there.

Thanks and hello.

Welcome & wow! - lots of Florida people on this site.  With all the retirees down there I guess it is a thrift mecca.  I am sure the many Floridians on this site can give you some good tips.

Welcome! We did some thrifting in Naples about a year ago. You all have quite a cluster in that one area. We had a good time.
How's the thrifting in Ft. Myers?

Hi and welcome

My daughter lives in the Fort Myers area.  I will  be visiting with her soon and maybe I will see you.  Any favorite shops.

I think the best ones are:
1. Family Thrift Store on 41 just south of Page Field (there is a goodwill in the same plaza)
2. Goodwill on Daniels isn't bad, its new.  I guess its there major goodwill in Lee County now.
3. Kiwanis in Cape Coral is good.
4. If you are near Bonita Springs, there are several on Old 41 that are good.

If you see any good ones that I don't know, please tell me.  I go to different parts of SW Florida almost every day looking for good stores.

I don't really know how to compare the Thrift Stores in SW Florida to other places.  It really depends on each store.  I'm only in my 20's, so I'm generally looking for different items than the people going to thrift stores down here (usually retirees).

The snowbirds generally donate a lot of stuff down here, but they are also the ones shopping in thrift stores, so the prices are high for that reason.

Anway, I enjoy the hunt and it is good physical therapy.

Thanks for the info Anna.  I am in North Central Florida.  There is a good thrift shop in Fort White, north of Gainesville.  Very well organized and clean.   Also there is another community thrift in Newberry Florida that is good.  Again well organized and you can get some good bargains.

Happy thrifting and thanks for the tips for Fort Myers area.

Welcome to the forum,

There was a Goodwill on 41 with reasonable prices when I went through there.  If you get up to Sarasota any the Salvation Army has a really great store with lots of quality items.  I really found a lot of great bargains there on their 1/2 price day.

Hi and welcome!!!
I am from Central Florida(Kissimmee). There is a very nice Goodwill store in Orlando and it is a HUGE store. This by far is the cleanest Goodwill store i have been at.The one in Winter Haven is small and cluttered.
I normally do my thrift shopping online from Goodwill and have not been disappointed in my finds.
Its nice to have another Floridian here.
