Howdy folks!
It's great to be a part of this community, and to take advantage of this lovely site!

I run a blog called Thrift Store Confidential (http://thriftstoreconfidential.wordpress.com) and the folks here have been great about helping me promote it.  I'm mostly dedicated to spreading the idea of thrifting, and sending the "newly converted" here for the terrific resources.

My next article is going to be geared towards helping people cross over to thrifting if they've never done it before.  The recession has hurt a lot of people, and I'm determined to try to show people a way out of retail.

Do you have any stories about taking a friend or colleague thrifting for the first time?  I'm trying to wrap my head around being brand new to thrifting so I can better speak to people, but I need a little help from you folks by way of your experiences.

Thanks a bunch and all best,
Nicole

MY DH, being an only child, never even thought about thrift shopping til he met me.  I started him out gently, garage/estate sales at first.  He was skepical but soon realized what he could find there.  And it didn't hurt a friend of his sell Depression glass on line that he finds at  sales and thrifts. Then a great ts opened not too far from us.  He wasn't interested but soon I was bringing home all sorts of treasures for cheap.  Then he asked one day if he could go with me.  Now he is a regular there.  Start slowly with newbies.  It takes a little getting used too.
