My screen name is bargainmom08 and I am from Alabama.  Thrifting has been a part of my life many years now, but I have really become involved with it the last year.  I had a stroke in June of 2008, and was shut in for the next 8 months.  During that time, I researched a lot and each time I went to the doctor, I would ask whoever took me to stop by the Thrift Store!  That would be the only place I would shop and could only hold out for a very, very short time there.  It was worth it though.  Learning more about my bargains and reworking them or fixing them up for my use, has been a lifesaver.  It has kept my mind off of me and more on objects.

I continue to get better each day, but my love for thrifting hasn't changed.  I am still confined to home much of the time, but still do my thrifting when I have a doctor's visit. I love to read what each of you have to say and look forward to getting to know each of you better.

Sorry to hear about your stroke, but glad that thrifting has been theraputic for you.  What kinds of things do you look for at thrifts?
