went to Boone this past weekend, had a blast with my son, hit every flea mkt, thrift store, yard sale etc walked our legs off! Nothing great, I picked up afew things but thanks to the tourists EVERYTHING in Boone is expensive...even at lil fruit stands with a few nicky-nacks they had dagone antique guides under their counters. Bargains are becoming a thing of the past. I did see dishes like the websites wallpaper though..I was so excited...the platter was 60 bucks...sighs...Anyways here is my question for ya'll. Growing up, my mother kept *good things* put away for guests or special occasions, new towels, china etc. Do ya'll do that? I tend to use or display my stuff, I search for my treasures and I want me and hubby and whoever comes over to enjoy my goodies, I dont wanna wait for rainy days or special occasions..I like everyday to be special. It was just a thought..I just love to tell stories to all my friends when they come over and go on and on about my neat stuff, so I was just curious on what ya'll did with your great stuff!

LOL...  The "good china"...  When I was a kid we had the good china, good flatware, guest towels, those funky pink soaps shaped like roses...  Now when I visit my mother I feel strange using these items...  These were the things I was told for the first 20 years of my life that I should never even touch...

Oh, man, "the good stuff". My mom used to use our good silverware & dishes for dinner after church to make the day more special for us, so at least we got to use our  stuff once a week, & for company.
Now, I am pretty much of the persuasion that "the good stuff" should be used as often as possible, as you never know how long you have to use it. I do have good memories of the once a week thing, however, but pretty much feel that every day is special, a gift, so treat it that way. Use the "good stuff"!

The good china was kept in the China cabinet on display and used only occasionally. Now it is packed in boxes in my storage unit for my boys, who of course have no interest in it what so ever. I would like to display my groovy finds but I'm getting ready to put my townhouse up for sale and my best friend is "staging" it for me. Her exact words were "All your hippie shit has got to be packed up!" *CRY* Thanks Anastasia! lol
