Hi all!
I'm manager of Here Today Gone Tomorrow Thrift Store in Baton Rouge. My parents started this store in 1993, and except for three years in Houston I've been here to whole time.
16 years in one store is a long time and fatigue can set in, and it did. Thankfully I've caught my second wind and am all atwitter about the store again.
Our store is dedicated to helping other non-profits in the area. Half of the profits from the items donated in their name go back to them every month.
Recently I've been focused on cheap and easy marketing. One idea I found was giving away small bottles of hand sanitizer at the front counter, we put a sticker on the front of the bottle with our name. I think I've wiped Baton Rouge out of the .5 oz sizes.
Our donations are WAY down right now. And for the first time we are soliciting merchandise from stores nearby. I didn't realize how difficult that would be.

Welcome to the thrift forum!  I love your shop's name -- and it's become my motto when thrifting because I SURE have let something go thinking it will be there next time.  Of course, it NEVER is!!  So I've learned to grab it right then if I even THINK I might want it.

I'm from North Royalton, Ohio (Cleveland area) and am addicted to the Salvation Army here.  It is absolutely huge and FILLED with clothes!  It's really hard to stay away, especially since I'm not working right now and have tons of time to check out the thrifts.  I'm also cleaning out my closets and I have a huge amount of clothing to donate.  I hope your donations start to go up.  Good luck!
