Hi, I'm Roz and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I cannot believe that I have found people who know how <I> feel about thrifting! I am over the moon! Grin

I started thrifting about 6 years ago when I lived in Northampton, England. The cost of living is quite a bit higher there compared to here, and I needed to find (affordable) clothes for my child. I used to make my "rounds" every week, going to different shops on different days. It became a habit and I found that I would feel very excited at the mere thought of thrifting. (BTW -- The Brits have some <*excellent*> thrift stores. If anyone is headed over the pond, JLMK, and I can give you the skinny on the Brit thrifts.)

When I moved back to the US a couple of years ago, I carried-on with my thrifting and I now have a new "routine" and I have gotten to know my local TS very well.

Hello, everyone! Smiley

Hi Roz.

Welcome to the group - it's a lot of fun, and it is addicting.

If you can, share with us some of the things you collect, or at least look for when you go thrift shopping.

That is all.

Umm...I don't really collect as much as "accumulate". I like odd things. Strange bookends, Dia de los Muertos items (Those are rare jewels that I am always on the look-out for!), vintage clothes and accessories, vintage stuff in general and kitchenalia.

I still buy my children's clothing at thrifts and nothing pleases me more than finding chi-chi, hand-smocked, children's boutique clothing that would have cost $100's for $2.49! Grin

Hi and welcome!  I too was excited when I found this site.  It is great!  Sounds like you have good tastes- vintage stuff in general is what I look for, too!  Smiley

Hi Ya!

I'm the Secondhand Sophisticate; so nice to have you onboard!  I simply adore well-made, classic vintage stuff, but also try to get my everyday clothes from thrifts as well.  Keep us posted and let us know how thrifting is in your neck of the woods!   Started thrifting in the 70s; now I do it more out of art and pleasure and keeping my hand in.

How neat that you thrifted in jolly olde England!  So they are really called jumble sales across the pond after all!  Shocked heard that super-model Kate Moss is a big jumble sale fan, and has just started her own clothing line based on her jumble sale adventures.  I would love to hear of your British thrift adventures and scores!

Ciao, Bella!
