HI.  I thought I should introduce myself.  My name is Jeannie and I am from northern KY, near Cincinnati.
I am a thrifter and garage saler and a dumpster diver from way back.
As a child I grew up in a large family with not much money.  On the frare occassions we went swimming in the summer my mother would drag us all to the ST. Vincent de Pauls to buy swimsuits.  She saw no reason to shell out lots of their hard earned $$$$ on a swimsuit we would wear once.
My favorite thrift shop is called The Village Discount Outlet, run by a vet's group, Amvets I think.  All I know is I love to shop there.  I have found lots of great things there.  I found a Burberry palid cashmere scarf there, still in the package with the tags still on it.  Retail is $225, half that on e-bay.  I melted and gave it to a nephew for Christmas.  He was having a bad time, bad year really, and it cheered him right up.  He worked in mens retail and knew exactly what it was.
A lot of the workers there are Mexican immigrans who barely speak English.  I think they don't always know what it is they are putting out for sale so cheap.  Good for me.
I have found Wedgewood, silk scarves, a whole bag full of expensive silk yarn (for $3!  yikes, I'm surprised I didn't do cartwheels right there in the store), a brand new back trench coat (for my son) all rags attached.  Turns out the coat was a military issue dress coat for
some branch of the service.  A friend who is in the military couldn't believe it.  They are a couple hundred dollars to buy but I paid $20 for that one.
I have been lurking here a few weeks and thought I should come out of the wilderness and say hi.  My husband thinks I am nuts but when he compare what I spend at the thrifts compared to what his friend's spouses spend at the mall, I must look pretty good.  Nice to meet those who share my opinion.  Like a lot of thrifters I sew and do other crafts.  Thrifts are a good place to pcik up crafting materials.
So, nice to meet y'all.  I look forward to gettingto know you.

Hello:

Its exciting to hear Northern Kentucky has great thrift stops.  I'm from Columbus, Oh (but live in Florida) and drive through Covington on the way to Columbus.

Question:  do you find any King's Island stuff at your thrift stores?  I found a King's Island collectible from around 1980 a couple weeks ago in SW Florida and was thrilled.  I love King's Island and thought maybe you get stuff in Northern Kentucky.

My favorite thrift shop is in Newport, close to Covington but you must get off I-75 to get there.
We usually can find all the KI stuff we'd ever want around here.  This close to it there are souviniers everywhere.  Around here the rare stuff is Disney and DW. I guess you alwasy want what you can't get.
