Hey folks-
I came upon a new thrift store in the Western PA/Pittsburgh region. It''s located here:

The Price is Right Thrift Store
1930 Lincoln Hwy, N.Versailles PA 15137

It''s not a big place, but had an interesting mix of thrift items and actual antiques, and the prices were good. I found two Victorian postcards and a record album of Mel Brooks'' "High Anxiety" film (which was entirely too funny to pass up).

Just thought I''d share.

Thrift Shop Romantic, I'm from Western Pa. too, and I've had some of the best thrifting experiences there. My husband is from Pittsburgh, and when we visit family there, I try to stop into some of my fave Red, White, and Blue stores. It's been a while though. Next time I'm on my way there, I'll have to get some advice from you on where to go.

My mom still lives near DuBois, Pa...a couple of hours northeast of Pittsburgh. I usually stop in several small towns to thrift on my way there. Brookville has a good Goodwill and tons of little junk shops (not charity places though), and Brockway has a good St. Vincent de Paul shop and a great Goodwill. On my last stop at the GW there, I found more of my everyday dishes (a mid-century modern style called Biscayne by the Salem China Co.). I'm going to have to figure out how to post some photos.

Hey, how nice to have someone on the boards who is originally from the area! I'll be happy to offer any suggestions when you're in town, certainly.

And you're right-- the Red, White and Blues are really amazing-- crowded, but great.

It'll be wonderful to see your photos of your finds.

(Really I don't have a P-burgh accent, but my husband is SUPER Pittsburgh. Out here in southern Indiana, when people hear him talk, they say, "Yer not from around here, are ya?")

Those P-burgh accents stay with you for life!  We had neighbors from Mount Lebanon when I was a little girl and their accents were extremely distinctive!  Kinda like Brooklyn or Lon-giland accents Grin

Ha...love that reaction to the hardcore Pittsburgh accent!...

Being originally from New Jersey, I don't have the full yinzer accent going on. But I have caught myself pronouncing certain things in the last couple of years with a bit of a Pittsburgh spin.  Smiley

Terrifying.

I live in western New York. Far western, sneeze and you're over the border. Closest city is Erie PA which of course is just up the road a piece from Pittsburgh so we're practically neighbors! YEAH!

Most of my thrifting happens in Erie and along the southern NY/ northern PA border from Erie east to Olean NY.I am rather embarassed to say I have never thrifted in Pittsburgh though.  I think I get dazzled by all the things to do, places to see in Pittsburgh but now you have made me want to go to the thrifts too.  Hmm, maybe my next weekend trip to the city should be a long weekend?

Well, if you do decide to venture to the Burgh this weekend and want some recommendations on where to maximize your thrifting time, let me know. I'm more than happy to point you in a good direction.

Cool!  Well, it definitely won't be this weekend, or anytime soon, but I'll take you up on the offer!

Usually make a trip to Pittsburgh when we are still buried in snow here and I'm sick of it. It always seems positiely balmy there after living in the land of the lake snow effect. (We do get better snowflakes here though--he big lacey ones, but even those get tiring after a bit!)

Pittsburgh as balmy... it really is all in the perspective. Smiley

Actually, we've had an unusually calm and warm winter so far, so you're not far off. I will try to remember "balmy" when I'm knee deep in a February snowstorm!

Rigth now, the weather channel says it is 35 degrees in Pitt and feels like 35. Here's it's 28 with a rather mild wind chill so feels like 18.  So yeah, your weather in balmy!  Cheesy Yep, all in the perspective!

I love that RED WHITE & BLUE store but the parking is HORRENDOUS (if you mean the one on Route 51).  Now that Tambellini's has been taken over by someone else, you can't even sneak into the back of that lot and walk over to the store.  It does have an amazing variety that is a "no holding back" philosophy. It seems like many of the Thrift Stores these days presell the "good" stuff and it never hits the floor, and this is not the case at the Red, White and Blue.
