I was shopping in a thrift store about a week ago with a friend and came across this thing that looked like a small cable box along with a keyboard and some wires and things to plug it all in. It was called web tv and the price tag said 24 bucks. I asked a sales person what was Web TV? She said you hook this up and you can use the internet on your television screen instead of using a computer. I asked her "dont you still have to pay for internet service somehow"? She said no but something doesnt seem right. I would thing with any internet wether by computer, dsl, cable whatever you still have to pay for some sort of service. So I am asking anyone out there just what is this Web Tv all about? Is this really free and how does it all work?-----------

Web TV was bought out by MSN.  They continue to offer service for existing subscribers, but are no longer signing up new users.   IMHO unless you are into collecting obsolete technology, leave it on the shelf.  If you want to surf the internet on your TV you can do it on a Wii, AND have a pretty cool game system, and no additional monthly fees to use the web on your TV.
