In the movie Fight Club, there''s a scene with Marla (Helena Bonham Carter) and the Narrator (Edward Norton) that takes place in the old house on Paper St.  Marla, who is wearing a pink dress, says, "I got this dress at a thrift store for one dollar."  And the Narrator replies, "It was worth every penny."  To which she says, "It''s a bridesmaid''s dress.  Someone loved it intensely for one day and then tossed it like a Christmas tree.".

Fight Club is one of my favorite movies, and I was even in a band once called Jack''''s Wasted Life, which is a quote from the film.
