Hey you guys, sorry for the boring&obvious question, but-- I'm traveling to New York this week and I'm totally new to the city, and I would really, really like to know what some good places for clothes thrifting are? Please do share your favourites! I live in Germany, where there isn't much of a thrifting culture at all (at least not where clothes are concerned) so this is something I am really excited about.  :-)

Try looking up NY thrift stores with the thrift store locator on this site.  I will tell you though that my thrift store shopping experience in NYC was rather disappointing.  So many people thrift there that it was hard for me to find anything really that good.  Too many stylish, hip people all in one place who know a great thing when they see it.  Hopefully this won't be your experience.

Hi, there are amazing thrifts and flea markets in NYC. I'd recommend starting with Housing works and Angel thrift. Check out my blog on thrifting in NYC www.fortheloveofthrift.blogspot.com

Those flea markets look like alot of fun.  The Manhattan thrift stores are lovely but I would imagine they are more expensive than others just for the fact that the rent must be crazy high.  Have you ever ventured out to thrift in Brooklyn, etc.  I keep meaning to rent the movie Dave Chappelles's Block Party because my sister told me there is a scene in it where they are in a big Goodwill somewhere in Brooklyn that looks pretty cool.

I bet the best thrifting in NYC is right off the street, although I heard that bed bugs had become quite an epidemic (they are on the rise everywhere) and people weren't picking up furniture off the curb anymore.  Is this still true?  Great blog!
