I went to the thrift stores in and around Coos Bay Oregon on 7/24/06.  I found some pretty good bargains too.  The Salvation Army store had great prices on many items.  Usually dishes at a Salvation Army store are higher priced but at this store the prices were extremely low.  I found a few small things that I bought to resell on ebay when I return to Florida this fall/winter.

Across the street there was another store named Bay Area Enterprises.  By the name you wouldn’t think it was a thrift store but it is.  I found great prices on the books there and found a few books that I wanted too.  Prices on other items were quite good but I didn’t find anything that I wanted except the books.  While browsing I saw a man that I’d seen while in the Salvation Army store.  He was going through the record albums at both stores.  So we struck up a conversation and I found out that he collects record albums.  Everywhere he goes he looks in the thrift stores for old albums trying to add to his collection.

While looking for the Goodwill thrift store I stumbled across a thrift store that I forgot to write down to be entered on this site.  It was a small church charity thrift store that had some very nice items.  The man was kind enough to give me the directions to the Goodwill store.  So I then visited the Goodwill store and found several nice items there too.

CM,

I too have noticed that Salvation Army's Pricing is widely varied.. Some have great pricing others do not. I guess that just goes for all chain thirfts.
I'm going to buy you a digital recorder for you keychain, where can I send it..

Michael, Good Buddy you crack me up!  I laughed and laughed so much when I read your posting regarding sending me a digital recorder.   I will try to be a better forum member and send in those new-found thrift stores.

Regarding Salvation Army and their pricing, I too have noticed that some items are just way too high while others are so low it feels like I'm stealing.

I was told by an employee at the store in Tampa that they price according to what the book value is.  Supposedly, they have a lot of books on collectible items.  But I still feel that even then the prices are too high on many of the items.  They’ll have collectible item prices on broken or chipped items.  That brings the value down, but they still price it like the item is in mint condition.  Prices on collectibles are really what someone is willing to pay for an item.  And at many of their prices I'm not willing to pay that.
