Heya folks-
Not long ago I found a wonderfully horrifying vintage recipe book courtesy of Lea & Perrins, the Worcestershire Sauce people. I'ts called "100 Ways to Be Original In All Your Cooking"...

And SURPRISE! Every single one of those 100 ways involves Worcestershire Sauce.

Anyway, it was so terrifically bad, I gave it a bit of the James Lileks "Gallery of Regrettable Food" treatment on my blog. If anyone is in the mood for a scary food-based chuckle, the link is here:

Funny, the one thing they don't list is a Chex Mix type of snack!

TSR, I just checked out your link... Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Wink Smiley etc. etc.

You have a wicked sense of humor, girl.

Men still eat meat, bathe in it, use it as after shave and under arm deoderant. Meat is the elixir of life to the testosterone set.  But do they do it as artfully today as pictured in your lovely book from yesteryear?

Now I've seen everything, from a Meat Loaf Train to a man eating his own head.

Ha, glad you guys got some chuckles. It was too scary not to share. ("Chew-chew"-- Good one, Mrs. Goodwill! :-) )

I didn't even end up including the deviled eggs with happy and sad faces on them done in pimento. (And this was for ADULTS as an HORS D'OEUVRE.) The caption there was, "Funny monkey faces to make your guests laugh."

Ah the things these housewives did get up to at parties!

Personally I thought the meat loaf train, while being a somewhat original idea, seems to be too much work for what it is.  Now maybe if it was being made to be served at a child's birthday party that would be another thing, but still the kids would just complain that they don't have pizza and hot dogs.  In reality nobody would ever make it, and if they did they should be committed to a mental institution.
