Saturday I indulged two loves - driving in the country and thrifting.  Looked up thrift stores in Licking, Knox & Delaware counties and spent the afternoon hitting a total of 6 stores in Newark, Utica, Mt. Vernon & Delaware (and missed 3 more, because they were closed by the time I got there) - prices are definitely better outside of the city!

Found:  24 piece set of Alliance China in the "Regal" pattern (blanks made by Homer Laughlin & decorated/resold by Alliance), mid-century teak lazy susan, Pyrex "Dandelion" divided casserole (promotional item from 1959), Haeger ribbed ball vase, Jeannette Glass "hottle" (individual hot water carafe, used by tea drinkers in restaurants) complete with thermoset plastic lid, Jeannette Glass 1/2 gallon pitcher in the Louisa Floragold pattern, 1960s enamelware percolator with a cool design of food items, 1950s/60s Canonsburg Willard George plate... and a bunch of other stuff I can't think of right now.

Passed on: partial set of Ben Seibel-designed Mikasa Duplex dinnerware; two Homer Laughlin Orbit shape butter dishes, one blue & white ("Vista"), one rust & white ("Maplewood"); Red Wing Pottery "Capistrano" plate; Red Wing "Tampico" coffee server (no lid - but I may go back later this week to see if it's still there, 'cause the cashier told me it's going on sale... it's amazingly cool even without the lid!); plus a bunch of odds & ends of dinnerware/glass, like a couple of Edwin Knowles "Forsythia" cups, a Libbey "Bombay" glass (from their International set, ca. 1958) and a 1970s black & gold Federal Glass Scorpio zodiac mug.

All told I spent less than $35, and got out of the city for the day to boot.

Sounds like you got a car load of great stuff.  I am super jealous!

I noticed a few of the words in the original post have turned into links and I know they weren't originally (is this just my computer?)

I don't know why some things in the post would turn into links - sounds a little suspicious to me, like some kind of unwanted software that loaded onto your computer without you intending it?  There are all sorts of little applications that you can pick up while surfing the web.

valleythriftshopper, I think you really need to scan your computer, you have some form of unwanted software installed.

Yay, I guess I fixed it they are gone now.  Can you imagine being one of the loser faces that designs these adware things and thinks of ways to get them on people's computers.  Scum of the earth!
