Lets say you won the Mega Millions would you still thrift and why?

Personally, I don't think I'd go to thrift stores anymore except to bring them my used crapola. However, I'd probably still go to garage/estate sales as I enjoy "The hunt" and seeing what's out there from yesteryear.

I think I would, but not as much because We sell what we find that is worth anything or but stuff for our kids. If we won big going to thrift stores would just for the fun of it to see what we would find to sell.. I think we would still sell online too, Selling would be more fun with money because you can take a chance more

Maybe, just for the hunt.

Probably not, because it is too hit or miss (mostly miss lately).  I could spend my time on better things.  If I needed a small appliance I might check out the thrifts because I would rather have a vintage made in USA appliance.  I would probably shop for stuff like that on
Ebay or the few companies still operated in this country too if I had the $ to throw around.

For me, its the thrill of the hunt.  I would still go, no matter how much money I had.  Its just the way I am.  Even now, I'm part owner of a business that grosses over $1 Mil/yr and I drive a 14 year old truck with nearly 180,000 miles on it.

If I won millions I would fly to Paris and go to the famous flea markets and do some treasure hunting there.

On a side note I just saw this story tonight about a guy in my area:

http://www.insideedition.com/news/6677/one-mans-method-to-winning-the-lottery.aspx

If you have $300,000 to dump into lottery tickets come to Massachusetts and win a million bucks.

I would still thrift shop because for me it is always about the hunt anyway.  Never knowing what you will find is the fun.

Sam Walton was a millionaire many  times over and still drove a beat up pick up truck.   May be one reason he was a millionaire many times over.

Paul, you don't have much of a choice. You have to complete your X-Mas tree train display.

I'm another one who does it mainly for the hunt, so even if I had twice that much money, I'd still thrift.

There are few thrills in life so exciting as when you find a 1960's Pucci dress priced at $4.00,

or a sterling silver mesh purse dated 1909 for two bucks,

or an exquisitely opulent lady's belt circa 1890 for a dollar.

True, if I thought I could find any of those things at my few local thrifts, I would still go, but it is not that rewarding.  I'd probably still hit some yard sales if they sounded interesting, that is where I tend to find my better pieces these days.

Also, if I really won Mega Millions I wouldn't bother to do Ebay/Etsy anymore and that is where alot of my "hunted" items go.

I would absolutely!!! I'm addicted I must admit.

If I were a millionaire (when I'm a millionaire  Roll Eyes) I'd probably only my own boutique featuring my thrift store finds.

OK, so according to my calculations using this thread as microsom of this site - at least 1/2 of us can cut out the "I love thrifting cr*pola". We don't love it we love saving a buck.

I enjoy the hunt.  It's not like I can walk into Tech Hi-Fi and get a new Pioneer SX-1280.  I have to hunt and hunt and hunt and hunt and hunt, and likely never find one.

I like the hunt.
