Do you ever see stuff at a thrift store, but don't buy it because you think it's priced too high? But then maybe you think about it after you went home and wished you bought it? Anyway, I do that a lot. And most of the time I let it go. I saw these cool wall hangings at GW tonight. They were so quirky, I really was considering them. But they were priced at $3.99 each, and there were three of them. I just found them on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Burwood-PAIR-OF-MUSKETEERS-36-Wall-Hanging_W0QQitemZ160269521758QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2550ced35e&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

The ones at GW were missing the swords though. I'm still thinking about them. What do you think?

I'd have bought them. I'm a huge fan of the 1970's Three and Four Musketeers movies. You can "make" swords out of something.

I've done this several times and I always got that "I could kick myself" feeling later.  If you see it, like it and can afford it - buy it!

Here is another set on ebay, with all three. Now I'm thinking I need to run back to GW and buy them!

If you have waited a few days and still want them, you can probably get them without any buyer's remorse.  Just think though if you will still like looking at them a year from now or if the infatuation is probably temporary.  If you are the type that recycles stuff alot (has something for a while then donates it back to the thrift) that is not an issue.

My problem is trying to pass up good stuff that is under a dollar, even if I have no where to put it.  Case in point, I bought two pieces of mint condition depression glass the other day- one for 49 cents and one for 89 cents.  They are not pieces that go for alot in auctions, but I couldn't pass up two nice pieces of 30's glassware for that price.  Now they will probably go in a cabinet where no one will see them.

Story of my life.  I absolutely cannot pass up any hand made textiles.  Especially crochet (the old stuff) or embroidery.  I have drawers of it,  and do use some of it, but will never use it all in a life time.  I just think of some little grandma sitting there years ago making this stuff, and I get nostalgic.  My husband thinks it is bad enough that I save all of my own memories, but then I go out and save someone elses!  Just a soft spot in my heart for all that little stuff that was so lovingly made so many years ago.

Those are so unusual I would likely have bought them if I had seen them and liked them that much.  That is what I like about ts. Unusal stuff to be found cheap.  It would have been $12 for all three.  And if you get tired of them you can always sell them on ebay.

That's true, I didn't even think of that.  If they are good sellers even without the swords than there is really no harm in buying them because you can make some money for more thrifting if you get sick of them.  I have done that a few times, although generally the things I end up keeping for myself aren't the more valuable items.

They are very unusual,  and the price is not bad,  I would think they should have been priced as a set.  What if someone did come in and buy just one or two - it would not be the same effect.

And if you plan to display them I would like to ask where?

That is what I would have done too.  That Stangl teapot I have been eyeing is still at the SA, it won't go to half price for another week, so I will wait since it has a few chips.

Too bad!  The same thing happened to me.  The Stangl teapot was gone yesterday, it would have been half price tomorrow.  I think the Sal Army has been pulling some stuff before it goes half-price though and moving it around to different stores.  I have noticed other stuff disappearing before it made it to half price & then reappearing at a different store.  I was so close to getting it at half-price!

Those would have looked cool in a castle themed home too. I know how that it. Right now I'm doing the opposite. I buy so much darn stuff that I feel remorseful for buying too much. Which is why I eBay. Let's me own something for just a little while and then I can sell it, move on and get more goodies.  Smiley
