I went to visit my sister and her family a few weeks ago around Honolulu, Hawaii.  We went to a few of the GoodWill's around the area.  I didn't really find much, but I have to say that their prices were similar to the prices around my area at home which surprised me.  I would've thought since it was Hawaii their prices would be overpriced more.

At their GoodWill's I noticed they had a card that they would mark every time you spent a certain amount or higher and after so many marks you would get so much off your bill.

I do have to say if you go to Oahu in the future to make sure you buy your Hawaiian apparel at either the thrift stores (cheaper than some of the other retail stores) or go to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet that is held on certain days.  The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet has a bunch of vendors that sell primarily Hawaiian souvenirs and trinkets.

Today I just came on here to give her directions to go to a GoodWill she had never been to before Grin.

They definitely have a lot of shopping experiences in Oahu.  The most touristy would be Waikiki area which offers a few souvenir shops and outdoor vendors, but also a lot of expensive designer stores that cater more to the celebrities and rich tourists.

I told my sister to check out some of the other thrift stores that you listed on this site.

Lucky you, I would love to go to Hawaii -thrifts or no thrifts.  I would have liked to have gone when they were still filming Lost there, that would have been a dream true to see one of their sets!

A new Goodwill opened recently in Amherst, MA which is a short drive but I haven't even bothered to check it out as I am totally unimpressed with Goodwill in general.  This one is right down the street form UMass too, which you would think would make it cheaper, but college town thrifts tend to be more expensive.

One thing you might find in Hawaii is beautiful beach glass.  I have seen people from Hawaii selling it on Ebay and it goes for good $.  I am sure you can find lots of other neat shells, etc. on the beaches too.  I guess if you don't find any treasures thifting in Hawaii you might find some in nature!

We went on a movie tour and they took us to a few of the places Lost filmed.  The one that I remember the most was a large hill that was used for Hurley's golf course.  Lost & a lot of other movies and television shows do a lot of their filming at Kualoa Ranch.  Presently they're filming Hawaii Five-O there; unfortunately, they weren't filming there that particular day.

Since we had a lot of activities already planned we only went to the beach twice, but surprisingly I rarely saw any seashells.  Someone said that the seashells may get stuck in some of the reefs.

Oddly, no.  I am sure a lot of people were surfing at Waikiki Beach, but my sister doesn't like to go there.  She said it's often busy with all the tourists, dirty, and the beach sometimes is overrun with bums.

We went to a military beach and another beach I cannot remember.  From what I could see it seemed like paddle boarding was the activity of choice.

I've heard a lot of people surf on The North Shore part of Oahu.  I've read the waves get very large in the winter.
