I also grab any new Yankee Candle items I see for cheap to have on hand for last minute gifts.  We have the flagship store here so Yankee Candle can be found semi-frequently at thrifts.

I've seen a few, almost not burned at all, but the scents just weren't my cup of tea.  I have a few favorites, which I use during the holidays (I love "Home Sweet Home" and "Buttercream" scents; I also like one of their pine scents, but I'm not sure if it's "Christmas Wreath" or what).

That is funny you say that I saw a new Home Sweet Home votive set and something else in that scent, jar candle i think, in just this past week.  I would have picked them up for you, haha.  I will keep my eye out for more.  Also Christmas wreath, balsam fir and the like I see quite often.

You would like the flagship store here they have an enchanted Bavarian forest with a nutcracker room, Bavarian village, and a whole room set up with Dept 56 villages where snow falls from the ceiling and there is some kind of train that circles the room (not sure if it is Lionel).  I go there once every few months and it is always kind of fun.

These idiots who are pricing items at thrift stores based on ebay pricing are idiots and if they are going to do it, atleast do it right. There is a feature on ebay where you can search for an item and there is an option to see completed listings for the item. This will show you what the item has recently sold for. Alot of times you will see that the items sell for 1/3 of what the buy it nows are. But Thrift stores are pricing things based on the buy it now and not the recently sold price which would be the real market value of the item.

For example one goodwill had a Michael Jackson record they were selling for $120 bucks because the manager said thats what ebay is selling it for. I showed him on my phone that the last 5 completed and sold listings on ebay were on average of $35-$40 bucks. So even on half off day that record is still way over market value. He looked at me all dumbfounded and said he didnt know about that feature on ebay and that he would reprice it. Idiots!

I think that falls into the "A little knowledge is dangerous" category.  They know a little about the item, so therefore its $120.

This works on the side of the consumer as well - All it takes is ONE IDIOT to pay the $120 for the Thriller Album (I'm sure that's what it was, right?) and the thrift store is thrilled and the consumer (who had a little knowledge) is screwed, blued, and tattoo'd.

There are a number of folks I deal with who all say, "oh, sure, I can ASK for $XYZ, but that doesn't mean I can sell it at that price."  I have a lot of things on my Ebay watch list that are listed for prices I'm sure I'd like to get for the same item, but they seem to get renewed over and over and never sell... you know at some point the sellers are going to have resign themselves to taking less, unless they have unlimited storage space (and don't calculate the bite per sq. ft. that storing things takes out of their earnings!)
