Today while thrifting i was really happy , got 3 pyrex mixing bowls and a fire king disg for 6 bucks. decided to stop at another thrift store to see if my luck would continue. there i saw a drexel coffee table and 2 end tables. it was from the Precedent line  designed by ed wormley. it was beautiful. then i saw the sold tags on them. my heart sank. they had sold them yesterday for 229.00. i was sad  i didnt get them. however somebody got really lucky. i hope they go to a good loving home. they were beautiful. i saw the ladys phone number who bought them debating on if i should call her and see if she will sell them to me. probably not right?

Wouldn't hurt to call.  You know what she paid for it.  If you offered her a reasonable profit she may decide to keep shopping.

Good eye on the funiture, too bad it was sold.  If you have the nerve to call the buyer i guess why not?  The worse that can happen is an unhappy response.  You may forever wonder what would have happen had you called.

What Pyrex patterns did you find?  I haven't seen any interesting ones this week, except for a cute butterfly gold sugar bowl with lid.  I like butterfly gold but don't collect it.  They had the bowl & lid priced seperately (49 cents for the bowl, 29 cents for the lid) which is so typical of the weird Sal Army pricing.  I almost bought the lid so i would have it in case I ever needed one, but then i thought that would be kinda mean, so i left the bowl intact for someone else to buy.

I had a pretty boring thrift week until today when i found a cool pair of mid-century modern drapes with funky abstract design.  I decided to go back to the same Sal Army a few hours later because I realized I hadn't thoroughly checked the linen area to make sure there were no more of the same drapes.  I didn't find any but did find a pair of feedsack fabric pieces someone had hemmed to make cafe curtains, fun aqua design.  I saw these on a rack in the back yesterday & asked about them & was told it was the employees area (code for- get out!).

The drapes sound really cool. i love stuff like that.  i think i am gonna call the lady maybe she bought it to resell and it could save her some time just to resell it to me.but maybe shes a lover of mid century and wont give it up. where i live its hard to come by or find at thrift stores though i have gotten lucky a few times. i  have a russel wright coffee and 1 end table which i love. but im in a s2earch for another end table.  so im gonna call her doesnt hurt to ask. one of the pyrex bowls i got was from the brittany blue line per pyrexlove.com. i had never seen it before i guess cuz they only made it 1 year in 1967. then i got a muted yellow mixing bowl. 1 brown mixing bowl. and the fireking was a cake dish from the meadow green pattern and i already had some pieces from meadow green that i bought at a yard sale. im thinking the yellow bowl might be from the desert  yellow line. not sure though.

I never heard of that pattern of pyrex either. i didnt see it in the book i have. so i went to pyrexlove.com and found it thats where i got the info on it. i gathered up the nerve i called the lady with the furniture. didnt get an anwser so i left a message. no call back yet. will let u know how it turns out. but i think im going to go to that salvation army more its about 35 minutes away from me in another city. but they have alot more midcentury furniture there. its very clean and organized. but its priced alot higher. i dont mind that if i could find  some mid century living room furniture .   i have been on a hunt for a couch etc for a long time. no luck. but the hunt is always fun.

You should keep your eye on your local Craig's List funiture listings.  I hear about so many people who find great MCM furniture on craig's list.

great minds think alike. lol i have been searching craigslist as well. i did get a cute starburst elgin clock off of there for 5 bucks. but no luck on the couch as yet. i even search atlantas craiglist  . atlantas about 2 hours away from me. but there are no bargains to be found  the mcm is at value on there. bad news the lady that bought the table and end tables loves mcm and didnt want to sell it. but i did get to have a great conversation with her about mcm and thrifting. that was  neat.

Sorry you weren't sucessful, but at least you had a positive interaction.  I don't think I would have been so bold as to call, but then again i don't think there is anything I would wan't so badly, which seems strange because I am an avid thrifter of vintage items.  If I can't get it for cheap I don't want it anyway.   Smiley
