As the manager of a 5800 sq ft thrift store I just wanted to say thank you. I stumbled upon this site some months back and have read alot of the post. I love hearing what you like and dislike about the thrift stores. This helps me to look at my own store and fix things. I'm one of those listed with negative comments. I've learned a long time ago that you can't please everyone. And I enjoy a regular client base that means I must be doing something right. I feel bad because I've had to raise prices. But with rents going up. (In this part of virginia they are not cheap). I try to price things according to what people will pay. Some items I get stubborn on and will not budge on pricing because I know what the real value is. After all I have 3 shelters to support.
But enough, I wanted give you all a big THANK YOU for your continued experiences on this board.

No problem Mary!  I'm sure I've spoken to you before, as I have been a regular shopper of your store for years now.  (I was just shopping there yesterday and turned on a new member to this site, she just PM'ed me today!)  I think I've mentioned the worst thing I can say about your store is that with the black cieling often the store will look closed in the middle of the day.  For the most part I feel prices are still pretty fair, although on occasion there are the overpriced items.  Every store has overpriced items here and there as the people pricing stuff cannot be experts on everything.  I know several people on your staff and if something is either grossly over/under priced I will bring it up.

Thanks for joining us!

Thanks,
I know I hate this black ceiling. The first thing I said when we started planning the new store was that I wanted it white with a ton of light.

A black ceiling, to me, means one thing: a low-life saloon or dive bar.  That's not a bad thing; I just can't picture any other kind of business with a black ceiling!  What was in your building before you opened your store?

Maybe I should rephrase that, its worse than just black acoustic tile.  The cieling is exposed, ie, all ductwork and support members for the roof are visible, just covered over with a layer of flat black paint...

Believe it or not it was a huge music store.they sold all types of musical instruments and etc. I really really hate the black, I'm just hoping my light hold out until I move.

GB- Since I am a regular shopper there I had planned on updating the listing as soon as they moved.
