I usually buy clothes and purses/wallets at the thrift stores.  Sometimes inside items I find stuff left inside.

1. Old credit card (I shredded this and threw it away)
2.  Old wedding photograph (looks like from the 40s)  Kept.
3.  Old journal (recent from teenager)

Has anyone else found items?

I haven't found too much in any of the bags I have bought.  Some change, a dollars worth at the most, hard candy, etc.  I got a bag a few weeks ago & when I had it at home I noticed something bulky in the pocket- it was two maxi-pads, not used or anything & still wrapped, but definitely not a keeper!

I buy purses also. I find pennies all the time ( in vintage ones) but not much else. Once in awhile I find old business cards which fascinate me. Who was this person and what did they do?

My Mom always said it was bad luck to give some a purse that was empty so she always put a a penny in one she gave as a gift.  I do too still.  Maybe the universe is trying to make sure your purse is never empty!:)

hmmmm.  Didn't think of it that way.  Nice way of putting good karma out there.  Thanks I'll try it.

That is what I was thinking too as my Gram told me that tidbit long ago.

You'd think I would find more interesting stuff with all the used/vintage purses I have.  Most of mine come from GW and they are pretty good about making sure there is nothing left behind for us to find.

I bought a pair of $3 jeans with $20 in the pocket once. Thought that was a pretty good return on my investment not to mention they ended up being a favorite pair of jeans. Smiley

At a rummage sale at a retirement home I found a gold ring in a handbag.  Paid $2 for the handbag, from the rummage sale went to a jeweler a friend recommended and got $25 for the ring.

I had a friend whose husband donated a bunch of pairs of socks to a thrift, not knowing her engagement ring was hidden in one - needless to say, they never got it back.....

That's a bummer, I hope it wasn't a family heirloom.

I found $100 bill in a pair of jeans, a silver certificate dollar in a vintage handbag, various business cards, a lipstick (in another vintage bag), and a Tiffany broach on a coat! I know there are more things I've found... oh wait I found a $50 gift certificate to Hot Topic stuck in a book a few years ago (my daughter loved that!)

Cheers!

New here Smiley

Last year, I went to Salvation Army in Burlington VT. I bought a couple of books. In one (I believe it was THe Notebook), there was a small envelope with a name on it (But i couldn't make out the name). And something like "happy birthday" on it. Inside the envelope was a neatly folded 10$ bill! Smiley

I rescued a whole bunch of coin collecting items from someones garbage once.  In one of the holders I found a very large silver coin...can't remember what it is exactly but that was pretty cool.

Otherwise my monetary finds are limited to my own clothing...lol!
