Hubby and I attended our first storage auction this week.  The bidding got steep on the one that we liked (to resell).

Have any of you bought from one?  I'd appreciate feedback.  Thanks!

On Antiques Roadshow a few weeks ago some guy brought in a laugh track machine that was used on 50's television shows that he got from a storage auction.  I think it was worth around 10,000 dollars, so I guess you never know what you will find!

From what I've heard, storage auctions are more miss than hit. Most of the time all you find is bed bug covered mattresses, boxes of x-mas decorations and other fodder.

That show Storage Auctions is fiction.

I've attended a few, and as far as I can tell, it's some sort of conspiracy for the storage places to make a buck to have dead-beat customers' units cleaned out.

The show has simply inflated the prices people pay for these units.  More people, more dollars, higher prices.  And it's all a "pig-in-a-poke."  Even if you find some incriminating personal effects which can be sold to the National Enquirer, AZ state laws indicate that these must be returned to the owner (Photos, legal papers, urns, etc.).  Theoretically, you could plunk down $600.00 bucks and have to give it ALL back.

Generally, a waste of time.
