I signed it  Wink

The salvation army near me uses such small staples. It's so difficult to get them off.

I do get frustrated when, for example, they staple through a fold in a tablecloth, making it impossible to open it all the way to look for damage or accurately gauge its size, or (as happened recently) when they're stapling the tag onto the folded-over top of the plastic bag they're putting the thing in and staple through the piece itself.  In that case they stapled the tag onto a really cool MCM plastic placemat (one of a set of 4.)  Fortunately the mat was thick enough that it didn't puncture all the way through, and you can hardly see the two little holes, but at first I held my breath with dread that I was going to ruin the thing when I took it out.

A few thrift shops I've visited are in the unfortunate habit of marking prices in permanent black marker in their book fronts.  Naturally, this doesn't exactly enhance the value of collectible volumes...   Roll Eyes

As for the Salvation Army, one of the biggest problems I've had with their stapling practice is that it's a pain to get the little suckers out of nice silk ties without harming the fabric.  Usually they staple on the area that becomes the rear of the tie when it's around my neck, so that's not quite as bad, but sometimes they staple right through the front...  grrr.  (It's painful also to see what those staples do to silk shirt collars).

Haven't run across permanent marker on books - yet!  I hope that trend never hits my area.  The china marker the local shops use is almost as bad...

This one thrift store I went to once before (cannot remember the name) put black marker prices on practically every item.  Sure it beats using stapes and paying for price tags, but what a pain if the black marker doesn't come off or potentially damages the item in the process.
