Femme1, I love Kenneth Anger's books. That HollyBaby may be a keeper. I've never seen 'em in hardcover.

Chrismiss, Stone Mountains are great thrifted bags!  The one I got my mom is a black hobo with goldtone hardware and the Chanel-style tassel on the strap. It's the softest leather (black) and the strap is adjustable. The bag is in minty condition and cost only 2.50.  It's very classy-looking and elegant for my mom. She'll love it!

I picked up a yellow leather SM bag for myself last year at a tag sale for .25.  I got compliements on it from "ladies who lunch" who fell in love with the color.  It was well- used when I got it, but that only added to the appeal, I think--it had that "traveled, worn-leather" appearance that I prefer.

I would never buy an SM new or pay more than a few bucks for one in a thrift. But when you can catch a good thrifty deal (as you  know) they are worth it.

DH and I are exchanging one small, inexpensive gift this year (his to me is secondhand) Our kitchen is our gift.  Grin

Wow! Everyone is coming up with great stuff!!

The one other thrifted gift I got was 3 Clive Cussler novels, hb, for .99 each. One of my co-workers reads the Dirk Pitt series over and over, wearing the paper backs out, so was thrilled with this gift.

The next fun stage at the ts's will be after Christmas when people are getting ready for the new year and start sifting through the stuff in their houses, finding room for the Christmas presents. I think for the next 2 weeks it will be slim picking, though. Is it like that where you live?

I've been told next week may be a great week to thrift, because people are in donating mode to get that last tax deduction before the new year kicks in!  Smiley

Foutchie, that's the word on the street  Cheesy but keep in  mind: Some of the smaller thrifts may be closed because of staffing issues (staff/volunteers visiting families, daycare concerns, etc.); other thrifts may not have the staff to put all the stuff out all at once either, due to these concerns and may not be stocking up to full capacity until into the new year.  Some thrifts may stop taking donations until after the first of the year because they will be inudated with stuff and may not have room.  This makes for good thrifting through January!

2.  NWOT Chico's shirt/jacket $5.49 (with spare button ziploc) for Mom ( found it the weekend before Christmas LOL)

I found so many varied thrifted items this year for gifts, I did a little post on my found goodies here:

The bisque dolls and the new Transformer, I understand, were enormous hits-- Which I'm really thrilled about!
