I was very shocked to learn today that Goodwill doesn't operate any retail stores in Detroit.
I had assumed every major city had Goodwills.
I learned something today....

That is surprising, isn't it? They have an airport bigger than some small cities alone-- and no Goodwill?

I had a several-hour stopover in Detroit a few years ago. It is a huge airport, with a lot of shopping (I didn't do any.)  I remember there was a store that had to do with cars, a "Motown" store, I think, and several pricey shops. 

I just learned a few weeks ago that Detroit is one of the poorest cities in the US, due to the desicmation of the manufacturing base and the subsequent move to the 'burbs.  So it's all the more suprising to learn that there is no GW. 

Curious as to the reason--could it be a regional thing?
