You could do a tie in each month to a different holiday. For instance February- a special discount for anything red or with hearts. March-St patricks Day of course- discounts for anyone wearing green or with an Irish name. And Mardi GRas- you could do something with the colors green, puple or gold. Or hand out beads or coins for discounts on Fat Tuesday. April has several possibilities. Easter/spring_anything with eggs, bunnies or ducks. Baskets of course. Income Tax Day-where better to make what money you still have go further than a thrift shop? Earth Day- thrift shops wrote the book on recycling. April and MAy are the start of spring break on most campuses. Offer discount with college id for swimsuits, tshirts, flip flops and other beach gear. Also in April/May how about fashion shows for proms? Have local hs students as models. May-Moms-white gloves, hats, teacups whatever else comes to mind for celebrating MOther's DAy. Also graduations start. DD had to have white dress for grauation, showcase those. Aslo weddings and wedding showers. Have a wedding gown fashion show. Send announcement to the local papers. June-Dads, ties, sporting goods or sport related items. Beer mugs, anything for a man cave. Also wedding and graduations continue. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor DAy_anything red, white and blue, flag related, picnic goods. Also vacation related-clothing, books, beach toys. Special displays and dscounts. Not holiday related but have an Oscar display. Showcase gowns you could wear to the Oscars, set up a tv adn play old Oscar winnign movies. Have other movie tie ins. The last Harry Potter movie comes out this summer. Havbe special sales on the HP books, movies, and other HP stuff. Put together costumes people could wear to the movie. Do the same for other big movies coming out, like a new Batman or Spiderman. See what big convention/events are taking place in your community. A big Star Trek convention? There is alwasy a ton of ST stuff in thrift shops, set up a display and notify the convention organizers. A big marathon race? Running shorts and tshirts and sweat suits. Lots of ideas out there. Ask your staff. They might be plugged in to lots of evetns going on and have great ideas for publicity. Good luck. Jeannie
