I haven't been finding much at thrifts lately, but I decided to start an Etsy shop and I'm enjoying it so far! Today I made my first sale... how exciting! Anyway, if you want to check it out:

Congrats on the etsy shop, I like etsy although I tend to put my smaller value collectibles on there because I find the higher end stuff can tell a long time to sell, also sometimes I get more than I thought I would if I auction it off on Ebay so I wish Etsy had auctions.  I like your he-man figures!  I have a he-man thermos in a cabinet somewhere, maybe I will put it up on Etsy!

How do you like Etsy so far?  You have cute things in your shop.  I am finding Etsy to suck lately.  I used to sell things easily there but now they tend to linger much longer.  I heard they did something with the tagging of the items that makes them harder to find on Google, which I believe, because if I search for something on Google I come up with Ebay listings but not Etsy listings.  I am probably going to abandon Etsy for the most part now.  Anyone use any other sites like Etsy that are good?

thriftymam, you have some cool stuff! I hope things really start selling for you, they should, your prices are very reasonable & your photos are good. Best to you...

I am liking it so far. I have made 8 sales, which I'm pretty happy with. My best sale was today. I had found a vintage My Child doll in a free box at a garage sale a week or so ago. She was kind of grungy and smoky, but I managed to clean her up, comb her tangles, and get rid of the odor. She sold overnight for $28!

That's cool, glad you mentioned that , I never heard of My Child.  I looked it up and saw it was an 80's thing but I don't remember it at all.  I will look out for those in the future!

High demand stuff still does Ok for me on Etsy, I find alot of vintage suitcases either for free or under a few dollars so I put them up for less than alot of other sellers do and they go fast, but in general the views for things are down for me and people will email me with questions about stuff and I get alot of "hearts" but things will sit around for months.  I guess I am way too impatient for that.  I guess every site has its flaws.

I like Etsy a LOT more than eBay, even though it generally takes longer for stuff to sell.  You get your price and the people seem to be much nicer.

BTW, my Etsy shop is having a SALE, so if anyone's interested...

I have to thank everyone here.  Without the Thrift Shopper, I'd have never even heard of Etsy!!

Wow, I really hadn't thought of putting thrift finds on Etsy!  Congrats on getting it started and being an inspiration!  And you have a great niche.

I always keep my eye out for vintage toys and accessories, they are alot of fun.  I don't find as many as you though.  I did buy a 1980's Disneyland Theme Park Train set yesterday for 2 bucks at the food bank thrift.  I can't find an example of one that sold anywhere recently, but someone has one listed on craigslist for $100.

I haven't put mine together yet to see if it works - I hope so!  For two bucks though it was not much of a risky venture.
