I'm participating in a Bloggers Unite/Blogcatalog.com "Act of Kindness" event slated for December 17, and got the idea for a different sort of way to help out at least one of our thrift charities.

I've developed a Decorating with Thrift Store Items tips page within Squidoo. It also includes some hand-picked resources on thrifting and collecting through Amazon.com.

Now, I don't blog to raise money and I don't have online advertising on my site; I don't intend that to change, either, simply because I don't feel other folks should have to pay for my blogging habit.  Grin However, I DID have the option with the Squidoo resource page, that any money raised through it could go to the Salvation Army. Which I've done.

I love the idea of spreading the good word about charity thrifting, AND helping one of the charities with some revenues. So we'll see how it goes.

If anyone wants to check out the page, you can see it here: http://www.squidoo.com/thriftshopromantic/

Nice page you made there with a lot of good information.  Hopefully it will help change some people's minds about thrift stores.

Which items does a person click to help raise money?  I know on my blog and probably the same here with the ads on the right side of the page there are ads from google.  Any clicks on those get money.  But on the page you have I wasn't sure if it was just the google ads or other items too.

I believe it's the Google ads and the Amazon book links. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming months.

I plan to add new tips and links as I think of appropriate ones.
