Does anybody have it?  Has anybody read it?  It was one of my favorite stories when I was a kid, and can possibly be (and probably is) the genesis of my thrifting mentality.

I won't rehash the story, unless there's a request, but suffice it to say, the RAS worked and I found one at the the Savers at Dunlap and 43rd Ave.

See you next time
bye for now.

I've never heard of it, but love children's books from days gone by - so many today are "high tech".    BTW, what's RAS?Huh??

RAS - Reticular Activation System.  It's a subconscious process by which you set your mind to something and you'll start filtering out all that which doesn't match what you're looking for.

Junk Day on Juniper Street - A short story in a children's book whereby the people on Juniper Street get rid of all their junk.  The junk man won't be able to come till the next day, so the folks on Juniper Street have a garbage-picking fest.  Everyone gets rid of what they don't want, and find what they've been looking for - even the junk man who eventually shows up.

I'll look for it.

Thanks, Big Daddy!  Just put it on hold at my local library.  Cheaper than chips, that public library. Can't wait to read it. Smiley Smiley

I must of had this RAS the other day.  I took my daughter down to the mall to get her hair done yesterday.  While I was sitting in the salon I was looking at some home magazines.  One magazine featured some cute little decorative birds & I thought I should look for something like that.  I ventured over to the store next to the salon & there was an adorable decorative bird on clearance for $3.00.  Then we went to the big Sal. Army near the mall that I don't get to very often.  I found a hat display stand for $1.50- I had just been looking at hat stands on Ebay the night before!  I even found a cute reproduction tin advertising sign for a hat emporium with a illusrtation of cats wearing fancy hats.

When we were leaving I said to my daughter, "I just found everything I have been thinking about lately."  She said, "Maybe you should think about finding $50.00 on the ground and it will happen."

Wasn't Arnold Lobel the illustrator of the Frog and Toad books? They're wonderful.

Big Daddy, I read it and I loved it. If "Junk Day on Juniper Street" is 'the genesis of your thrifting mentality', you are one very blessed and creative spirit indeed.

Thank you for sharing this.

Namaste and Peace,
