Millie gets a thrifted bowl.

« on: January 29, 2008, 09:47:33 AM »

DH likes to tease me that I buy way too much cr@p at the ts. My purchase yesterday was the ultimate. I laughed when I saw it! I picked it up and it had no damage. The price was right, just $1.25. People stared at me as I carried it around the store and to the checkout line. The cashier asked me what the heck I was going to do with it! I bought a ceramic planter in the shape of a toilet! I assume it's original intent was as a flower pot. There's no seat or lid, but I have a scroll saw, so will make those for it. What am I going to DO with it??? I don't know, but with friends having milestone birthdays, anniversaries and a wild streak, I am certain that it will be the hit of the party at some future event! It looks like it will hold about a 6" flower pot and it fit just perfectly on the bottom of a grocery bag - it's no little demure thing. It makes a statement! Now I just have to figure out what it's saying. And to whom.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Thrifting is FUN!!!

Sounds like a fun piece!  If you have space in the bathroom, you can put a plant in it & make it part of the bathroom decor.  Or use it to hold a spare roll of toilet paper, etc  I found a great framed hand numbered & signed pen & ink drawing of a cat drinking out of a toilet that I have proudly hanging in my bathroom.

If it makes me laugh in a thrift store, I usually end up buying it. I don't blame you if it was cracking you up. You could always put soaps in it, to be truly ironic. Smiley

Warning:  I'm about to be really bad here...

How about yellow bath beads or salts?

Now you have me thinking....

I could use it for the water dish for my little dogs.
Or, I could use it to serve (ready?) pea soup. (bad, so bad)
One more....lemon jello.
No matter what, it's gonna be my buy of the week!!

As fun as it is to talk about this, the sad truth is since it was never intended for food it may have lead in the glaze.  I think its a tie between the lemon jello and the waterdish for the funniest.

Oh, and add 2 tootsie rolls to float in the Jello ...

All these "potty" food suggestions remind me of the litterbox cake my sister brought over for my b-day last year (served in a litter pan).  You can find lots of recipes for these on the net.

I've thought about making a litter box cake before, but I've never done it.

Y'all are just too funny.  Don't forget to take pictures of it once you've done something unique with it.  I'm looking forward to it.

Has anyone noticed that Good Buddy and Cookie are taking the high road on this low-brow discussion?

Lemon Jell-o with Tootsie Rolls?

Chocolate pudding?

Yellow bath salts?

Some of these ideas are brilliant, but dang.

See you next time
bye for now

That very funny- about the toilet planter AND all the suggestions.  I've made Dirt before (chocolate pudding, crushed oreos and gummy worms), but it's not too disgusting to eat as the Litter Box Cake would be.  GAG.
