So over the weekend, I was in line behind this guy who had a couple of things in a basket. When it was his turn to go to the counter I saw what it was he had-- Thrifted lingerie. Ugly thrifted lingerie. Ugly, thrifted completely mismatched lingerie. And one of the pieces was a thong.

I don't know about you all, but I totally have to draw the line at thrifting a thong.

It occurred to me right then and there that this was the Valentine's present for some poor girl.

I hope she really loves him. And doesn't ask why nothing has tags on it yet.

Possible, of course, but he looked more like the out-of-touch-but-I-think-I'm-being-suave type who would gift it.

And I don't think the thong would have fit him. Smiley

Bleh. Very unsavory.

Ok, so now we have definetly established my ts line in the sand. We have reached the ick factor. Totally ICK.

Of course, there is another possibility here. (Sorry, but I have a naive, countrified innocent until proven disgusting mind set.) Perhaps he has a b*tchy, nasty, clingy girlfriend that won't be dumped. You know the kind - 'You're not done with me until I say we're done!' Strew some obviously worn undies around and maybe she'll be done.....? At least that's what I'd hope this is about. Imagine some poor, sweet girl getting a thrifted thong for the big heart, flower and candy day!! Either way, looks like the guy will be out of a relationship.

ick.ick.ick.

I'm shocked and appalled.  Shocked

I saw some old guy doing the exact same thing this weekend in a thrift. He had white bras and red silky stuff. I didn't look too closely. He was digging around in the lingerie/scarf bin while I was there.

Don't wanna know.

I agree with all your (creative) comments.

PS: It was Carnival/Fat Tuesday/Madi Gras this week. Ash Wednesday was yesterday. Could have been some mighty flamboyant parties before then Grin Grin

so of course i went to the thrift store today and saw this elderly lady scrounging through the underwear. i felt so bad for her - is her income so limited that she must buy recycled underwear??? Cry Cry it seemed like she was sort of hiding the fact that she was searching those bins. anyway, i just felt bad for her..

You are so BLIND!  He is in the process of making a lampshade for the green "Bordello" lamp that you recently purchased.  He knows who you are, and is trying to impress you with his artistic stylings.  You have no sense of the good-hearted nature of his task, and yet you assume the worst - You assume that he's buying this stuff for a Valentine's Day  gift for a unsuspecting rube-type girlfriend from Bug Tussle, Arkansas.....

Actually, odds are that he's doing just as you assume.

And that's just WRONG.

See you next time
bye for now.
