It's getting eerie how I find exactly what I wanted when I go thrifting or to yard sales. Just recently, I found muslin curtains for my son's room. They were very fresh and fit the windows exactly. I couldn't believe it. I was thinking of buying muslin and sewing curtains. Not only did they fit, they were the style I wanted, which was to hang from a tension rod. My son is rough when he opens curtains, and I wanted something he couldn't pull down!

The other thing I found was a retro spread and matching bolsters for a single bed in our guest room. Again, I thought I would have to sew them. These are just perfect for the room - makes it like a sofa.

Anybody else find it eerie that things you want/need seem to be out there waiting for you??

Yes that happened to me yesterday & today!  Yesterday I found a nice pair of sunglasses for 50 cents.  I figured I'd pick up a pair at TJ Maxx because they never have decent ones a the thrifts.  Glad I didn't!

Today I found the toilet seat cover I was looking for (I know this sounds like a weird thing to get excited about).  I saw a white terry loop cover in one of Rachel Ashwells books, that had a nice beachy look (not like a grandma seat cover).  I looked at them at Target but decided they were too expensive.  Today I found a brand new one at the Sal Army.  Cheesy

I once went looking for a particular book, Donnie Brasco, at the Mesa Thrift Center on Southern and actually found it. Ir's a great read too.

Not that I can remember, but on the main topic -

You guys are simply using your RAS.  This is your reticular activation system.  Subconsciously, what you want is used as a filter in all you see.  When you see what you want, your eyes lock on.  Once you know how to use it, thrifting becomes quick and easy.  Your RAS is kind of like the compass that Captain Jack Sparrow had in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films.

See you next time
bye for now

Great finds, loveit! I like to think that at least some of the time, intuition kicks in and leads us to the places we need to be!

It happens to me often too - I'll just feel like I should go to the local Goodwill, SA or a yard sale - and then I'll find something there that I've been wanting or needing.

In your case, considering the time saved with not having to sew, finding the curtains and guest room items must have felt especially good!

I love when that happens!  But lately I've been coming home empty handed.  Maybe I have everything I need?   Shocked   Nope, can't be!! Wink

I recently found a Hazel Atlas Moderntone creamer at the Salvation Army to match the set I JUST bought some plates for a few days before. I'd been looking at the creamers at an antique mall and didn't want to pay their prices. And lo! Creamer in periwinkle blue. I think BDA is right, my brain was subconsciously searching for it.

I love it when that happens.

Forgot to mention that I was looking on the internet for sheets made of 100% combed cotton, percale, 250 thread count. These are the crisp sheets we had when I was young. Lo and behold - I found an unopened, Bill Blass sheet, vintage, exactly the specs I was looking for. It's only a fitted sheet, but I like it.

There are other sheets like that, but they are used. I don't think I can bring myself to buy them. Finding one never opened is awesome.

Most of the vintage sheets I see are 50/50 cotton poly, so to find nice 100% cotton is a good buy, I would have grabbed them too.  I also forgot about one of my finds that is in the bedding dept too. Several weeks ago I was looking for a simple white dust ruffle & was surprised to see how much they were going for retail (I hadn't bought a dust ruffle for quite sometime).  Last week I found two brand new Stevens white dust ruffles so I ended up getting dust ruffles for two beds for less than the price of one retail.
